Resting HR 120-160 found in notes I also have Left ventricular ejection fraction 52% been passing out a lot should I be worried/is this the cause?

Unfortunately yes: You could be having a dangerous heart rhythm, leading to the passing out. The ejection fraction of 52% is still within the normal range; however, you are tachycardic at baseline, and the fast heart rate may overestimate your true ejection fraction as well as lead to heart damage. If you pass out again, I recommend calling 911, otherwise, see cardiologist ASAP. ...Read more

Hida Scan (Definition)

Patient is injected intravenously with isotope tagged to chemical hida that is extracted preferentially by liver cells mimicking bile. Some of this is stored in gall bladder and some enters small bowel from common bile duct. Cholecystokinin is a natural hormone slowly injected intravenously to stimulate gall bladder contraction. Normal function has at least 50% ...Read more

Is there any study that shows using Half & Half in a HIDA scan is as accurate as CCK? My ejection fraction was 31%

Is there any study that shows using Half & Half in a HIDA scan is as accurate as CCK? My ejection fraction was 31%

Yes.: Here is the link for that study: http://jnm.snmjournals.org/content/43/12/1603.full It shows that there is wide variability in the ejection fraction measured when half and half, instead of CCK, is used in a HIDA scan. However, the study concludes that both methods are acceptable. Hope that helps! ...Read more

Why did they stop the HIDA scan (without CCK) before testing the ejection fraction? Can't that be a problem of its own?

Why did they stop the HIDA scan (without CCK) before testing the ejection fraction? Can't that be a problem of its own?

Yes: Did they have CCk? It is not generally available. Have to substitute standardized fatty meal. Otherwise results are equivocal. Sometimes clinicians will not use CCK if suspect acute obstruction of biliary system or if no activity is in gall bladder. Should ask institiution performing the test for explanation. CCK or fatty meal substitute gives indication of gall bladder function. ...Read more

Hida scan results ejection fraction rates 30% at 30minutes 46% at 45 minutes and 50% at 60 minutes. I am very symptomatic with eating, recorecommendat?

Depends on how the : Gallbladder ejection fraction was performed. If the gallbladder contraction drug (cck or sincalide) was administered at a dose of 0.02 micrograms/kilogram over 1 hour, then a normal gallbladder ejection fraction would be greater than or equal to 38% at one hour. Unfortunately, there is variability in the % depending on exactly how it is performed. Check with your doctor for what normal is. ...Read more

Hi doctors, was just wondering what is a normal ejection fraction %age on a hida scan? What's good, what's bad?

Hi doctors, was just wondering what is a normal ejection fraction %age on a hida scan? What's good, what's bad?

Greater than 35%: Normal ejection fraction in adults usually is greater than 35%. Significance of ejection fractions has to be compared to clinical signs and symptoms of patient. ...Read more

What does ejection fraction means? I'm having a hida scan tomorrow because i'v been diagnosed w/a gallbladder sludge

Ejection fraction is: A measure of how effectively the gallbladder releases bile when it contracts. During a hida scan, the gallbladder accumulates the radioactive substance. Another medication is then given (cck) which stimulates the gallbladder to contract. A special camera measures how well the gallbladder empties. This is reported as a percentage. If abnormal, this may be a source of pain without gallstones. ...Read more

During a hida scan, what is a normal gallbladder ejection fraction?

>35 %: A normal gallbladder ejection fraction is usually over 35%. Anything less than this would be considered dysfunction of the gallbladder or biliary dyskinesia. ...Read more

Is the ejection fraction painful during hida? I have a gallbladder sludge, and a nuclear med scan tomorrow.

Is the ejection fraction painful during hida? I have a gallbladder sludge, and a nuclear med scan tomorrow.

CCK: To determine a gallbladder ejection fraction, a medication called cck is administered iv. Your body normally has its own cck which makes the gallbladder contract. The exogenous cck may simulate any symptoms which you feel when you normally eat a fatty meal. If you get cramping, nausea, etc.....You may experience this with cck. Symptoms are often more pronounced with rapid speed of injection. ...Read more
