What Is Eco Test For Heart
Cardiac testing: There are lots of 'good tests', we choose by what we need to know. ECG gives us general rate, rhythm and some other info. Echocardiography shows anatomy, physiology and some other info. Nuclear imaging can show anatomy, some physiology and other info. Radiographic angiograpy is very important for coronary anatomy. There are plenty of other 'good tests' too. ...Read more
Echocardiography: There are other modalities that can calculate "heart strength" (how well is the heart pumping blood) and cardiac output (how many liters of blood are pumped per minute) but the most accessible and non-invasive is an echo. By measuring the heart when full of blood and then when fully contracted you can estimate the effectiveness of the "squeeze" as well as the volume pumped. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Hotter Monitor: Start with a 12 lead standard EKG followed by a 24 hour holter monitor. A holter monitor is simply a continuous recording of your heart rhythm that the doctor can then review and correlate with a diary of your symptoms. A monitor can be worn for more extended periods of time if 24 hours does not reveal a diagnosis. ...Read more
Is a coronary calcium ct scan a good test to see of there is plaque in the heart arteries? how accurate is it? my cta was inconclusive. heart rate fas
Coronary Calcium: Coronary Calcium analysis is a method to detect calcified cholesterol in the coronary arteries. A score of zero is quite helpful and predictive in the correct age group. The difficulty is that in younger people, there may be noncalcified cholesterol plaques in the arteries which would not be detected on a coronary calcium screening test, so cardiac CTA or invasive angiography would be considered. ...Read more
ForAdvancedDisease: Promoted for detecting artery disease, but misses most disease; arteries expand, not narrow. ~75%, or more, narrowing required before stress tests, all forms, begin to detect any abnormalities. Nuclear (more expensive ; radiation) promoted as more sensitive. For all I have seen, a well done ekg exercise stress more sensitive ; accurate. I quit doing stress tests 1995; for better protection options. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Full name: Would you please provide the full name of the test. Many things. : The echocardiogram or heart ultrasound, gives an accurate picture of the heart's anatomy. An ekg demonstrates the cardiac rhythm. A holter moniters the cardiac rhythm over time- say 12 or 24 hours. These measure different aspects of heart function and are helpful in assessing heart function thoroughly. ...Read more
How accurate is an ultrasound in detecting heart failure, heart disease and clogged arteries? Is a good result that is about 18 months old reliable?
If its an MI: Not by itself. In the right setting, such as heart attack, elevated troponoin is a retty good indication there is coronary artery blockage. Coronary angiography(cardiac cath) is the gold standard to determine this & few other good tests are also available. Note that "heart blockage" could refer to blockage of coronary (heart) arteries or blockage in the heart's electrical activity (heart block). ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Electrical: The evaluation depends on history, physical and what the apparent electrical malfunction is. There are many possible tests and no fixed menu of evaluation. ...Read more
EKG and ultrasound: Ekg shows how the heart is pacing and conducting electricity in the muscle, rules out arrhythmia and also ischemia. Ultrasound assess the muscle and rules out valve disease, septum defect and muscle contraction. The coronarpgraphy shows the circulation, is more invasive and is done if ischemia has to be ruled out. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
ECG and Holter test.: The ECG (electrocardiogram) and the 24 hour holter monitor test are the initial tests. If problems are identified, an invasive electrophysiologic heart test (an "ep study") might be performed for diagnostic and therapeutic correction purposes. Cardiologists who specialize in this area are called "electrophysiologists". ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Need more info: While ecgs and an echo can diagnose most serious heart conditions, they don't catch them all. But for an otherwise healthy 22 year old with 10 normal ecgs and a normal echocardiogram, it is very very unlikely that you have a serious heart condition. What is the specific symptom that you experience to lead you to believe something is wrong with your heart? Why did you undergo a liver biopsy? ...Read more
Tests for arrythmias: After physical exam an ekg will determine the arrythmia most of the time and 24 hour holter monitor may be needed in some cases. Some abnormal heart rythm may require electro physiological studies, echocardiogram and coronary angiograms in some cases. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
