Constant pain in knee and clicks when walking for 3 weeks pain now moving down to shin. No injury. Not a sports player. 25 female. What could it be?

Anterior knee pain: This is often caused by patello-femoral syndrome in younger women. It results from an imbalance in the muscles pulling on the kneecap which can cause inflammation (pain, clicking). Physical therapy often helps - the most important part of treatment is strengthening the quadriceps. ...Read more

Back disorders usually cause pain down the back of the leg. You should start with a thorough medical evaluation, and then may need emg/nerve conduction studies. Unsure: As long as your quadreaceps is intact you can probably wait a couple weeks before seeing an ortopedist, but if you have any difficulty straightening your knee against gravity, you need to be seen right away.I presume you can walk on it also, if not get seen quickly, it may be a bruise but hard to say without an apointment. ...Read more

So, almost 1 yr post tkr and after walking, I have a lot of pain under the patella. What could this be? It stays this way for days.

A few possibilities: Depending on how your surgeon performed your replacement, several issues can cause anterior, kneecap pain. If your patella was left 'as is', and not resurfaced with plastic, it can still be a source of pain post surgery. If a plastic component was fixed to your patella, too thick a combination can result in pain. In either case, a knee whichdoesn't fully straighten can give you pain with walking. ...Read more

Reasons for having just one knee have pain just inferior to my knee cap and having severe pain in the patella tendon area when I squat. Treatment? 19

Maybe: It sounds like you may have patellar tendinitis one on side. This may reflect a tightness or weakness in your hips or hamstrings or other subtle anatomic variant that makes you predisposed. Treatment is a period of rest, appropriate stretching, ice, anti-inflammatories, and eccentric strengthening directed by a trainer or therapis. Other modalities, such as ultrasound, may help. See a doctor. ...Read more
