Lump on the inside of my gum next to a wizdom tooth. Its not painful, just feels like a blister full of water. Acured a day ago. Any thoughts?

Two thoughts: Either an infection or a mucocele. It doesn't make sense to take any chances. See a dentist to know for sure. If it is an infection, even though it doesn't hurt now, it will soon enough and usually at the most inopportune time. If it's a mucocele, all the better. When was your last dental check-up? ...Read more

Is a tooth abscess cured if it drains? Do I still need to go to my dentist? I had a small bump on my gums, and I was going to make an appointment, but this morning it burst and drained. Didn’t taste too good, but I swished some mouthwash around my mouth,

Not cured: The 'bump' on the gums is a draining abscess. The symptoms tend to diminish when the bump opens and lets the fluid (pus) drain. But, the source of the infection is still present...It must be treated to avoid a chronic abscess. ...Read more

Lumps: The absence of pain does not always indicate the absence of a problem. Many chronic infections lie dormant until one day....Kaboom: severe pain and swelling. That is not not say that that's what you have. See a dentist to evaluate what you see and feel (and what you cannot see and feel). ...Read more

Hard lump on my gum under my tooth. What could this be?

Hard lump on my gum under my tooth. What could this be?

See a dentist ASAP: Without seeing the lump to learn its exact location, color, as well as (important!) x-ray films, only general observation can be listed. This means yours may be completely different. With that being said, many lumps--hard or soft--are often signs of infection. The tooth may be infected with cavity bacteria, or rotting of dead nerve if the tooth has been dead. It may suggest the root has fractured. ...Read more

Tooth abscess and gum abscess? Could one have caused the other?

Tooth abscess and gum abscess? Could one have caused the other?

Yes: A gum abscess, if left untreated, may destroy the supporting bone loss and eventually involved the bone around the apex, then the bacteria would have access to the nerve via the apex and cause tooth abscess (endodontal abscess). This is called perio-endo lesion. A tooth abscess, if left untreated, cause pulpal necrosis, cystic formation, drainage to the gum tissue causing gum abcess (endo-perio). ...Read more

There is some ooze coming from my gum on the side where I had my wisdom tooth removed. That was 6 weeks ago. Am I getting an abscess?

Residual infection?: After 6 weeks the extraction site should be 95% healed. Residual infection from the surgery is possible and I believe you asked an earlier question about your lip being swollen which likely is being caused by that as well. Go back to the doc or surgeon who removed your wisdom tooth to have the area checked and if infection is confirmed you will need antibiotics to help it heal. ...Read more

For a year or so, a tooth has decayed and the sides broken off. On eating nuts today I now have a lump on my gum (inside) under the tooth. What is it?

Infetcion?: Eating nuts could be insignificant and coincidental. If this tooth has been decayed for a while, enough to break off some of the enamel, there is likely an infection deeper in the roots of the tooth. The lump on your gums could be the abscess that is trying to drain from the infection. Get this treated by a dentist right away, before it becomes very painful and more threatening. ...Read more
