What is Squamous mucosa with reflux esophagitis (basal cell hyperplasia, intraepithelial eosinophils)? &Esophagitis found with linear furrowing?

Benign: The key is that despite the fact that you have reflux and are probably going to be more comfortable when you are effectively treated, we did not see precancerous change.

Ho can you recover from reflux esophagitis?

Ho can you recover from reflux esophagitis?

Non-drug Rx helps: Reflux can be treated by eating smaller amounts more often (grazing), being cautious about things that cause irritation, not eating/drinking before sleep, and propping the head of the bed up. If the symptoms are severe, or continue despite those techniques, you may need drug therapy as well. Sometimes directly looking at the stomach with an egd is needed as well. Good luck!

I have reflux esophagitis.. Is low fat milk good for me in the morning or no?

I have reflux esophagitis.. Is low fat milk good for me in the morning or no?

okay: Low fat mild is neither good nor bad. Any food (even water) will stimulate gastric acid secretion and relaxation of your lower esophageal sphincter. Remaining in an upright posture after eating is key to improvement. Antacids or med to reduce acid production are cornerstones of therapy. Keeping the head of your bed elevated helps too.

La grade B reflux esophagitis and erythematous mucosa in the atrum is what I have. I just SIMPLE WANT TO KNOW WHAT CAUSES IT?

La grade B reflux esophagitis and erythematous mucosa in the atrum is what I have. I just SIMPLE WANT TO KNOW WHAT CAUSES IT?

Reflux esophagitis: simply put: the contents of the stomach, mainly acid, stayed for a long time outside of the stomach up in the esophagus where they shouldn't be, causing inflammation of the lining of the esophagus hence the term, and that what causes heart burn and other symptoms. As for the causes for the reflux itself, they are numerous, most common are diet (e.g. fat, caffeine,) being overweight, drugs, etc..

I have reflux esophagitis, erosive grade II am taken pantoprazole 40 mg for how long I have to take it ?

Longterm : You may need to take it long-term. People who have erosive esophagitis suffer from acid reflux, which will still be present if the medication is stopped. Therefore, it is commonly necessary to continue maintenance therapy. Anti-reflux measures are also important. Good luck.

Hi doc, can you please advise what is the best scheme of treatment reflux esophagitis? Thanks in advance.

Diet and meds: Very mild cases can be treated with just dietary restriction. If meds are needed, you can start with otc antacids and if necessary, work your way up to otc h2-blockers and proton pump inhibitors. Lastly, if even this doesn't help control your symptoms, you need to see your doctor.

Could reflux esophagitis show on chest x-ray?

No: Esophagitis is inflammation of the lining of the esophagus. It is not evident on a chest x-ray but may be seen on a barium swallow of the esophagus or, with greater sensitivity, endoscopy of the esophagus by a gastroenterologist.

I had firs exam reflux esophagitis, second now erythematous gastritis but why i never have heartburn till now?

Esophagitis: it is not uncommon. Some of the symptoms like coughing when lying down, recurrent nasal congestion, chest/arm discomfort or sinusitis/ AM frontal headache are not as obvious . Ask if they checked for h pylori and start treatment, avoid caffeine ,alcohol smoking fatty foods ,spicy foods, and start an H2 blocker or PPI per your doctor. f/u w/doc

Duration&dosage of treatment of nonerosive reflux esophagitis? Have taken protonix 2x20MG for a month, still feeling acid, want to switch to Nexium (esomeprazole).

Duration&dosage of treatment of nonerosive reflux esophagitis? Have taken protonix 2x20MG for a month, still feeling acid, want to switch to Nexium (esomeprazole).

May be warranted.: If you were diagnosed with nonerosive esophagitis and protonix does not seem to be taking care of the symptoms after taking it regularly for a month, it may be appropriate to switch to a different PPI such as Nexium (esomeprazole). I would recommend continuing antireflux measures and returning to see your gastroenterologist. Good luck.

Inflammation: Inflammation of the esophagus can be a precursor for cancer. Inflammation of the esophagus and stomach can mimic or hide cancer. It was smart to get endoscopy. Your doctor did a good job biopsying the worrisome areas. If the biopsies come back benign, then you will be treated and observed. Well done. Your working diagnosis is inflammation which is treated with medicines.

Why worried?: Had there been any cancer, your doctor would have told you. The findings you described are no way near cancer. You should discuss your concerns with your doctor who knows more about your health than any on on HealthTap. For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. Practice safe sex, if you have sex.

I did barium swallow test it suggested sliding hiatus hernia.Abt 2 yrs later i did endoscopy at another lab which showed reflux esophagitis.

Hernia and reflux: The two things you are talking about are consistant. The hernia is a weakness in the distal esophagus and this then allows acid to burn your esophagus(reflux esophagitis). For help , no caffine at night, no eating after dinner(3 hr. Before bedtime) and medication to stop acid production.
