Weight Gain Patterns During Pregnancy With Twins
When your due date arrives, you will be more than ready to have your baby! Most women deliver the baby somewhere between 37 and 42 weeks. According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, only 5% of babies arrive on the exact due date. Approximately 7% of babies are not delivered by 42 weeks, and when that happens, it is referred to ...Read more
Focus on diet: I don't set any specific weight targets for my patients. Focus on eating a healthy diet, rich in fruits and vegetables, lean protein, hearty complex unprocessed carbohydrates, etc. If you have access to food, then eat healthy. Expect that you will likely gain more weight with twins than with one, but i don't think you should focus on the pounds. Focus on your nutrition instead. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
No worries: The typical weight gain over the course of a pregnancy is 25 to 30 lbs. This can happen in a steady continuous fashion. Sometimes there a weeks of no weight gain followed by spurts of rapid gain. Babies take all the energy from mom they need to thrive - mom would have to starve severely and loosing weight, before it affects the baby. Having said that, pathologic conditions should be ruled out. ...Read more

Is it common to lose weight during pregnancy? Instead of gaining weight like usual women, i actually have lost weight. Could that mean theres something wrong with my baby?
Common to have loss: I see less weight gain the more overweight/obese a patient is. Also, towards the last 3-4 weeks of pregnancy, can see some weight loss. Some people lose weight due to vomitting issues. If the loss continues, talk to your ob. Less frequently , there may be a problem with the baby. Discuss all your concerns with the doctor. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
I am 22 weeks pregnant.I am not gaining any weight, even reduced 1kg but baby growth is normal. I have gestational diabetes. I am worried..Plz help.
Not uncommon: A lot depends on what your weight was at the beginning. Many women lose weight in the first half of the pregnancy then gain it back later. Also the body is very good about feeding the baby, sometimes at your expense, meaning you could be losing some bone or muscle mass. Also, i see many heavy women who have a hard time maintaining weight on a diabetic diet when they eliminate a lot of junk/carbs. ...Read more

I'm 7 weeks along with my 3rd pregnancy. I am so hungry all the time and worried about weight gain. Any suggestions? Is this normal?
Weight gain: I would stick to the three square meals and healthy snacks. In the first trimester, a woman only needs about 200 extra calories above normal which amounts to about half a chicken breast. Pregnancy is not a time to eat excessively ! A woman starting out at normal weight should gain 25-30 lbs. if underweight, 30-35 lbs and overweight 20-22 lbs. ...Read more

What is a healthy weight gain for teenagers? If a 15 year old girl is underweight what would be a healthy amount of pounds should she gain a month? If she was to gain a lot a weight in a month period or even 2 months period would that be harmful?
The : The ideal weight gain rate for a teen girl trying to do it healthily is a 1/2 lb to 2lb/ week which is between 2 lbs to 8 lbs a month. What is most important is how she gains the weight. A healthy diet and exercise is crucial for the development of lean muscle mass as opposed to just packing on fat. Junk food without exercise is not a good way to gain weight. Eating high calorie, but protein and nutrient rich foods such as nut butters, cheese, avocados and nuts is a good way to start. She should talk to her doctor about a healthy diet and exercise plan to gain weight in the best way possible. ...Read more
I am not able to gain weight am always underweight from the birth. Even I am having a good diet . Need suggestions?
Weight issues: It's sort of a privilege not to be overweight in the us, so unless it's unhealthy underweight, don't worry too much. First off, if there is a medical issue, it needs to be determined and fixed. Try to calculate your bmi (body mass index). Any bmi less than 18.5 would be underweight. Normal is between 18.5 and 25, so if you fit in that range, you are good. ...Read more
