What Is A Normal Cholesterol Level For Women Over 50
High cholesterol level and as a female, what exercise will help my lower this number to the normal range?
My cholesterol level is 5.3. What advice can you give to being it down. It's never normally so high.
Not too high: Cholesterol of 5.3 is not abnormally high. However you need evaluation of all the lipids. If you wish to reduce your cholesterol first step would be to reduce your intake of saturated fats and lose weight if your bmi is more than 25. Exercise is generally a good idea to improve fitness. ...Read more
I was told the normal cholesterol level is 100-187. I'm at 183. Should I be worried since I'm so young and it's already at the high end of normal?
Cholesterol Level: Checking your cholesterol is important at your age so you can identify a potential issue that can contribute to your future risk of heart attacks and stroke. I would stress a low cholesterol diet as the initial therapy for any patient your age. Lifestyle changes such as exercise, weight control, and stopping smoking can have a profound effect on your future risk of strokes and heart attacks. ...Read more
I am taking Aztor 10 mg for cholesterol. Now the cholesterol level is in normal. Can I stop the medicine right now?
Cholesterol: Treating elevated blood lipids is not a short term thing. If the diet and exercise have been modified and the lipids have lowered enough, that might be enough if continued. When diet and exercise need medication added to get the lipids down, usually long term or life long lipid medication will be required to keep the lipid levels from going back up. Talk to your doctor about your situation. ...Read more
Hai I am 24 years old man, have cholesterol level is 201mg/dl and sgpt is 94U/L tested before having food Is it normal or?
94 IU/L not normal: Your total cholesterol level is acceptable at 201 mg/dl, but it would be significantly lower in many young men your age. The more concerning thing is the SGPT/ALT liver enzyme. It is about double the normal (usual normal is 10-40 IU/L). Liver inflammation from excess weight, medications, or alcohol intake are most common causes, but more serious hepatitis could be present. See your doctor:) ...Read more

Huh?: Sorry, your question is confusing me.Get a more detailed answer ›
Probably not: Some small studies have failed to demonstrate a reliable cholesterol lowering effect w supplement garlic (marketed to achieve this). Remember supplements are licensed by the fda as "food". They have to demonstrate as safe to ingest, but they are not held up to the pharmaceutical standard of proving that by work. Anecdotal testimonials are used to promote, but they are at least safe to try. ...Read more
More veg/fish, less.:
If u r young and in general good health, 206 is very mildly elavated and if you have high level of HDL (good cholesterol) say above 60...I would not worry much about it (less than 200 = good). Balanced diet with more fish/veggies, less animal fats/cholesterol, and more aerobic exercise will do the job!
