Hi, I'm 48 yo, have endometriosis, ovarian cysts, uterine fibroids, pre-menopausal. CA 125 was around 200's then 159 the last one was 210 any concerns?
Likely, no: CA 125 is not recommended as a screening tool for ovarian cancer when used in risk-based stratification. Meaning, assuming that your mom or sister didn't get diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Normal for women with endometriosis to have elevated CA-125. Ca 125: The "normal" ca125 was established for post-menopausal women at <35 (any value 0-35). Most premenopausal women will also have values in this range but not always since there are many benign reasons it can fluctuate. Ca125 result is 20 which is within normal range >35. What is the perfect range. Is a result of 20 indicative of endometriosis at all?
It does not help: CA 125 is a useless test unless it is elivated above 35. Furthermore it does not pin point to an exact diagnosis as it can be raised in many different abdominal conditions including Infections, cancer and endometriosis. Neither: If you had an elevated ca-125 prior to surgery for ovarian cancer and the level is down to a normal person's, then we can hope you have a cure, and should the level rise again it will be early warning.
