The blood sugar concentration or blood glucose level is the amount of glucose (sugar) present in the blood of a human or animal. What are the normal blood sugar levels for non diabetics. I get numbers some times in the 140s- 160's. Not diabetic want to figure if it's normal.
Fasting vs nonfastin: Fasting blood sugar level should be between 60-99 (some lab range is up to 110). 100-124 is considered glucose intolerance, and 125 or above is diabetic. Testing for a protein product called a1c is useful. Any random sugar level above 200 is also considered diabetes. Right after meal sugar can be high-up to 160 within first hour. Anyway, i suggest checking with doc for eval. Good luck. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

What is a normal blood sugar after a meal? #nqlu my boyfriend is a diabetic and had a 177 blood sugar level after our meal. Mine was 157. Is that normail?
The : The most important point to stress here is when the blood sugar is taken after a meal. Two hours after a meal is a true measure of how well your body is allowing the sugar you consumed to be taken up by the cells( role of insulin). If you take it around an hour after, that is merely an indication of how much sugar you ingested at the meal and does not really tell us much. Therefore the two hour is what will give you useful information. If your boyfriend has well controlled diabetes, then his blood sugar should be 140 or less after two hours. If a non-diabetic such as yourself has a blood sugar greater than or equal to about 140 after two hours then you may have an issue with processing sugar, and will need to see your doctor for diabetes testing. There is no established normal range that we use for non-diabetics at two hours, but most doctors use the 140 cutoff. Please remember the two hour blood sugar test is the most useful. Please see your doctor if you have any further questions or concerns. All the best. ...Read more

Could a blood sugar level of 104 fasting cause diabetic neuropathy? My legs are dry, shrinking and feel weak. I'm walking slower than normal.
Unlikely: In order to be diagnosed with diabetes, you have to show abnormalities in one of several ways: fasting glucose over 100 mg/dl, or HgA1c over 6.5% at two separate testing, or a random glucose test > 200 mg/dl. Therefore I would consider the level of 104 fasting mildly abnormal and unless it was elevated at other times in the past, that level by itself is unlikely to cause a true neuropathy. ...Read more
