What can cause a 21cm mass in the uterus/abdomen in a 57 postmenopausal woman?

What can cause a 21cm mass in the uterus/abdomen in a 57 postmenopausal woman?

Long list: Including ovarian cysts/tumors, uterine fibroids, enlarged lymph nodes, and a host of other things. I would imagine that a ct scan would help narrow the possibilities down. If the mass was discovered by an imaging procedure then the radiologist would likely provide the most likely potential cause. ...Read more

Scan showed a large mass high in uterus. Went for two ultrasounds 2 months apart and it's not visible. How can this happen? Can a mass disappear?

Ultrasound: An actual mass would not disappear. Either the first radiologist interpreted something as a mass that was not really a uterine mass. Or the second radiologist did not see the mass. Maybe the two radiologists can look at their readings together and give you an explanation. ...Read more

I am getting the run around on my situation. They found a mass on bladder 1 CM and says no cancer only thru cysto. I have vag bleed & no uterus bloate?

2nd GYN MD opinion: You need to get a 2nd opinion on the vaginal bleeding from a GYN MD to rule out endometrial or uterine cancer. If the bladder lesion was NOT biopsied have a urologist redo the cystoscopy for a biopsy. At age 51 you should not be bleeding IF you are post menopausal. ...Read more

I use to have cancer cells I'm my uterus but had them froze off. A recent CT scan showed a mass between my ovaries and uterus. What could this be?

Hard to say: It is hard to say what it is with limited information, usually a CT scan is insufficient to fully evaluate these types of abnormalities. It could be something as benign as a pedunculated fibroid, or it could be more serious. Speak with your doctor. Additional imaging with ultrasound and/or MRI may shed some light on what this might be. ...Read more

How deadly can be a big mass in the uterus as detected by ultrasound?

How deadly can be a big mass in the uterus as detected by ultrasound?

It depends: It depends on what the mass actually is. Most of the time they are fibroids, which can grow large and cause symptoms, but are benign. Often US cannot tell what the mass is, and additional imaging such as MRI is performed for further evaluation. ...Read more

What does it mean when you have an echogenic endometrial mass in the uterus?

Seen on ultrasound: Means they saw something (a mass)in the endometrium (the inner lining of the uterus). Further discussion with your gynecologist is warranted and possible further testing or imaging might be needed. Cannot tell you anything more than that. Many times these are benign polyps but need to discuss with provider who ordered the test. Sorry not more helpful. Best of luck with this. Dr R ...Read more

I've had this mass growing in my uterus since July of last yr.nt visible on any scan.doctors think I'm crazy I need to know wht to keep looking for.

Not a mass: How do you know you have a mass if it doesn't show on any scan? I would guess that your uterus is enlarged without an obvious focal mass. An MRI or Ultrasound are great tools to see the uterus. If you have a mass in your uterus, both of these will show it. I am available for a second opinion. ...Read more

See a doctor: There are many possibilities what this could be. You should have an evaluation with a gynecologist. Depending on your physical exam and radiographic/ultrasound studies, they may recommend a number of therapies from medication, to surgery, to consultation with another specialist. 10 cm is a good sized mass. This needs to be looked into further. ...Read more

Unsure: If ultrasound isn't showing a mass, then it is unlikely that you are feeling something abnormal. Depending on your angle of trying to feel inside yourself, you could be feeling other anatomical structures. You could also possibly be feeling a full bladder (if in front), bowel movements (if in back), or your uterus could have a normal bend that you are feeling. ...Read more

A small mass of .5 CM in the uterus should it be removed? Does it interact with pregnancy? Thank you

Depends...: If the small mass is a fibroid in the lining of the uterus it could interfere with pregnancy. If the mass is benign (like a fibroid) and is in the muscle or on the outside of the uterus it most likely will not be of a concern for pregnancy and should not be removed. ...Read more
