Progesterone varies: Progesterone levels bounce around throughout the day, depending on day of the cycle and pituitary stimulating hormones. While a Progesterone level of 8 is on the low side, it is usually enough to support a pregnancy, and might well have been higher if retested a few hours later. My Progesterone level was 1.2, this was checked in the morning 3 days post ovulation. Day prior to ovulation ultrasound showed a 16mm follicle which was 4 days prior to test. I'm concerned its low, is this too low to conceive? Did I ovulate?

Ovulation testing: Ovulation testing should be done in the midluteal phase typically 7 days after ovulation. Testing 3 days after is a bit odd and makes it very hard to interpret the result. I would see an Obgyn and schedule official ovulation testing. These tests must be done in a particular way to get interpretable results ...Read more

Low estrogen ?: Estrogen production from ovaries can continue well beyond the cessation of menstrual periods. A serum test for "FSH" can determine if a woman is menopausal. Progesteron by itself will not alleviate the effects of low estrogen, however. Ovulation testing: Your Progesterone level should be done 7 days after the expected day of ovulation. Testing before is not going to give you any information as the act of ovulation is what causes the Progesterone to rise. LH rises before ovulation. See your doctor to go over the specific details. The tests must be done on specific days for specific reasons to be able to interpret the results. ...Read more
