Serious problem: The BP numbers are both used to diagnose hypertension. In general, the top number (systolic) is the one best correlated with outcomes;however the bottom one (diastolic) has been used as well. NO: Old wives tales say that garlic has anti hypertensive properties but it is not proven. If you have hbp, you do need low sodium diet, weight loss and exercise but if medications are required, garlic will not add any measurable improvement to any of the hbp medicines even at the smallest dose.
