What Is A Heterogeneous Isoechoic
A growth: I assume this is a thyroid nodule which basically mean you have a growth on the thyroid. It's very common and not a cause for concern as long as you follow it again in the future to make sure if it's not growing. Biopsy of the nodule will help determine if it's benign or cancerous. The risk of cancer is very low, approx 5%. ...Read more

My 12 yo's thyroid sono came back w/3 nodule- each >1cm: 1)slightly hypoechoic heterogeneous, 2)heterogeneously isoechoic w/internal vascularity 3) hetergenously hypoechoic w/in gland. How bad is it?
Is it poss. Cancer? Us results thyroid nodule: solid, heterogeneous & isoechoic nodule w/in the mid to lower right lobe, 4.2cm, increas. Vascularity
Yes it's possible : Any thyroid nodule over 4 cm needs to be removed surgically to make sure not cancerous per ata guidelines. I would still get a fna first before going to surgery but needs to be removed. More info on my website on thyroid nodules at www.Cvsurgicalgroup.Com. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
What is a innocuous and isoechoic thyroid nodule.
Also what is a heterogenous nodule with tiny cystic spaces, it measures 0.7cm?
Hard to say: It's hard to say without seeing the actual images. An isoechoic nodule is typically nonspecific and potentially falls in the indeterminate range (ie need follow up or biopsy). Same thing for a heterogenous "nodule" with tiny cystic spaces. A "complex cyst" with tiny cystic spaces can be a sponge like cyst that is typically benign. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Yeah, a concern: Regular structures are generally not problems. Uniform and regular fluid filled sacs can be due to many reasons. Cancer or infection are not likely to be included. If, however, the sac is irregular, then infection or cancer are not impossible. Otherwise depends on the location. Even a cyst inside the skull can be fatal due to pressure on the brain. A heterogeneous cyst on the back of the hand less ...Read more
Heterogeneous: Heterogeneous myometrium means that the texture of the myometrium is not the same across the length of it. It is probably OK if no discrete lesion is seen. If there are symptoms that cannot be explained by it, it may be reasonable to have a follow up ultrasound in 3 months to see if there has been a change in the appearance. ...Read more
May be just a...: "heterogeneous" may be just used to describe the tissue texture of testis as seen on ultrasound or microscopic tissue exam to denote having various components with different sound reflections or histological looking. Mixed echo pattern: Heterogeneous echogenic means ultrasound characteristics of area examined have combination of none, low and high echogenic pattern. This is compared to diffusely homogeneous pattern where diffusely same echo pattern. Certain lesions can be diagnosed by their echo pattern. ...Read more
It means: that it is the same echogenicity, or brightness, as adjacent normal tissue. Hyperechoic means it is brighter, hypoechoic means darker. The more reflective the structure, the more echogenic. It is a descriptive term. ...Read more

Need more info..: Where is it located? What is the size? There are many things that are "heterogeneous" from benign lipomas, to benign thyroid nodules, to benign ovarian lesions, etc, etc. Need much more clinical information to try to guess what this ccould be.
