Can I have a stroke or should I be worried of having chd at age 27 with atryglceride level of 209 and total cholesterol level of 267? I just found out

Need to know more: As triglyceride (tg) levels increase the number of LDL particles (ldl-p) is characteristically high. When ldl-p is high cardiovascular risk is elevated regardless of of ldl-c levels. To better assess your lipoprotein status i recommend checking lipoprotein particle numbers (ldl-p and hdl-p). ...Read more

My total cholesterol levels is high how to reduce it through diet?

My total cholesterol levels is high how to reduce it through diet?

Good start: Low cholesterol, low saturated fat diet. Read up. Don't expect any miracles. It may or may not help. You'll be doing yourself an even bigger favor if you get back into an exercise-focused lifestyle like you enjoyed so much as a teen. Cholesterol is largely genetic and if you need medication, don't hesitate. Get a few opinions, including from an evidence-based holist if one's available. ...Read more

Total cholesterol is 211. Good cholesterol 85. Bad cholesterol 111. What can I do to get my bad cholesterol down?

Total cholesterol is 211. Good cholesterol 85. Bad cholesterol 111. What can I do to get my bad cholesterol down?

Might do you harm!: With a HDL of 85 i see no benefit to lowering your ldl. Low cholesterol can be as hazardous as high cholesterol. The role of cholesterol in heart disease is overestimated. How aggressively should a high total cholesterol(say 250 and up, be treated iin 85 yr. Old woman, otherwise in good health?

How aggressively should a high total cholesterol(say 250 and up, be treated iin 85 yr. Old woman, otherwise in good health?

Good question: Treating cholesterol aggressively makes the most sense for people with high cardiovascular risk. The question i would ask is: how much would this woman benefit at this point in her life if she has no signs of cardiovascular disease? Statin therapy can be expensive and cause uncomfortable side effects and rarely serious reactions. A healthy diet and aerobic exercise have no down side at any age. ...Read more

My triglyceride level is 467 while total cholesterol is 112. Have BP 160/120. No problem in workouts. How could i lower the level naturally.

TLC and medication: Total chol seems low given that level of triglycerides. Low fat, low sugar, low carb diet combined with regular aerobic esercise and weight loss can help lower Trig and BP, but it is unlikely that you will be able to get to normal levels without additional medication, particularly for your blood pressure. You may have more luck with getting Therapeutic Lifestyle Changes to help bring down trig.. ...Read more
