What is a good sinus rinse to get rid of bacteria that causes odor?

Experiencing candida die off symptom nasal odor, how do I get rid of it? It started after I added drops of grapefruit seed extract in a sinus rinse.

Sinusitis? See MD: I've never heard of "candida die off", but quick online search suggests it is nonscientific claptrap. So is "systemic" candidiasis. (Sorry if that bursts a bubble for you.) Nasal discharge with odor suggests sinus infection that may need an antibiotic. Sinus rinse alone is unlikely to help much, with or without "graprefruit seed extract" or any other "natural" product. See your GP. Good luck. ...Read more

Trapped fluid: Hello, welcome to the world of post-op sinus patients. I have my patients first use a mist every 1hour for the first week. They come back for cleaning and then the irrigations begin in week 2. Expect to have fluid retained in the sinuses. After you irrigate, you will need to bend forward and turn your head from dude to side. This will remove the trapped fluid. It takes patients but improves. ...Read more

Pollen: I just checked the US pollen map and Levittown is having the highest counts in the country right now, so I suspect this is a seasonal problem. nasal steroid spray daily and antihistamine like allegra, claritin, zyrtec will be first line and if that fails see an allergist. other causes are vasomotor rhinitis, nasal esosinophilia and aspirin allergy and nasal polyps. ...Read more

Can manuka honey be used as a sinus rinse for both bacterial and fungal sinusitis?

Can manuka honey be used as a sinus rinse for both bacterial and fungal sinusitis?

Little research: It is difficult to answer this with certainty as this is an alternative treatment that has not been well studied. In theory it should be helpful for bacterial infections, as manuka honey has been used topically to treat skin infections. I have found a few studies to support its use for sinusitis, both for bacteria and fungi, but no large scale studies. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21518647. ...Read more

Any alternative treatment to relax an irritated nasopharynx? Steroid sprays, allergy meds don't do anything. Sinus rinse helps a bit but just for 5min

Depends on the cause: Unlikely to be an environmental allergy with no improvement on nasal steroid or antihistamine. Potential causes of nonallergic rhinitis include infection possibly with immune deficiency, irritant sensitivity, systemic diseases such as autoimmunity, inflammatory syndromes with or without nasal polyps, medication side effect, structural abnormalities, tumor, or dental problems (to name a few). ...Read more

Lack of cortisol and eating too many sweets caused me to have bacterial overgrowth what can I do to get rid of odor and get cortisol back?

How do you know: these things. If you had a lack or cortisol you would need lifelong cortisone replacement. Cortisol deficiency doesn't cause eating sweets or bacterial overgrowth. You're already on probiotics. Some yogurts will do the same thing Discuss w/your doctor. ...Read more
