Yawning and chewing gum also may help. You may hear or feel a "pop" when the tubes open to make the pressure equal between the inside and outside of your ears.
If still persistent, MD may prescribe steroid spray. ...Read more
Have a double ear infection, take 20mg lexapro (escitalopram) daily, is it ok to take Advil short term while sick?
With monitoring: Lexapro (escitalopram) and Advil need to be monitored when taken together as each increases the toxicity of the other due to added drug effects. Maybe: Rocephin shots are a backup treatment for otitis when traditional meds are not tolerated by mouth or a persistent otitis has failed several rounds of oral therapy. Success will depend on the resistance pattern of the germ. The shots can give a higher concentration of med, but if the germ (s) involved are resistant, it would still fail. Poor Little Guy!: Keep up the antibiotic for the full course for the ear and sinus. If he is still persisting with earaches, and also for sunburn pain, ibuprofen is a good bet. Baby has been on cedifir for 70 hours for double ear infection. He has shown some improvement but still is in pain. Is this normal?
Not optimal: If he's fever free & otherwise better it may just be slow to respond. I find cefdinir a day or two slower than Augmentin in achieving good results. The pain often reflects pressure on the drum caused by the buildup of debris & that can take a while to improve.Ibuprofen does help most. I'd call the office when it opens & discuss this with the staff. A revisit may/may not be required. ...Read more
