What Is A Dense Mass In Lung
Lung pleural mass 5 cm. Pet show no evidence of cancer. Solid mass. Do I need to do surgery to remove it or I can leave it as it is. Really confused?
Biopsy?: That is very good news the PET scan does not suggest the presence of cancer I'd still recommend the mass be positively identified. At that point your doctors will be able to counsel you better as to whether it should be removed or not. If you'd like a 1-1 consultation to discuss this please write me at: www. Healthtap. Deoxygenated blood enters the lungs from the right side of the heart and travels to the lungs. When you inspire, oxygen flows into the lungs, transverses the capilliares and attaches to hemoglobin down a gradient. At the same time, co2 diffuses into the capilaries and is expelled with exhalation. Oxygen rich blood then flows to the left side of the heart and into the ...Read more
Does inflammatory vs malignancy in the remarks of CT scan of lungs with 203cc solid mass mean its cancer?
No: No. It is at times difficult to differentiate inflammation/infection from a malignancy on ct. Pet/ct may more helpful where there is suspicion. However, this may also limited in differentiating infection/ inflammation from cancer. That being said, imaging does not arrive at a pathological diagnosis. When possible, any suspicion of lung cancer requires pathological confirmation through a biopsy.See 2 more doctor answers
Ct images reveal a spiculated mixed attenuating solid mass at the superior segment of the left lower lobe lungs est. Vol of 203cc. Der are minute calc?
Probable biopsy: A spiculated mass is often worrisome for cancer. However this also could be from a prior lung infection. Your doctors may consider a needle biopsy of the mass or a pet/ct scan. It would be helpful to compare this finding with any old chest xrays or ct scans to see if this is a new mass.
I have a painless solid mass on my upper inner quadrant of left breast and a hard lump on my upper left chest wall. Are they related? Should I worry?
Concerned: You need to have a thorough exam
Yes: If it is irritating part of the airway, or lining (pleura) of the lung.
? COPD?: Ghee I googled that and could not find anything. You have have take a sentence out of a paragraph that needs clarification.
Ask pulmonologist: A lung mass is always of concern. Sometimes it can be determined to be benign simply by comparing xrays or CT scans over time. Often it must be biopsied. If possible, this is done through a scope passed down the windpipe. Sometimes that won't reach and biopsy must be done through the chest wall, guided by CT scan. In special cases biopsy is done with a scope through the chest wall or surgically.See 1 more doctor answer
Not usually: Pneumonia itself does not usually appear as a mass on an xray. However, those that have a mass in their lungs, can develop an infection on top of that so it can definitely appear that way. It is always best to have a repeat chest x ray after you have been treated for pneumonia to make sure there is no underlying mass. Take care!
Noticed pain as I pressed center-mass. Then began painful coughing fit and stinging inflamed feeling in lungs. Just getting over bronchitis.
Not always: But it should be evaluated. Depending on it size and appearance, your doc may be more or less inclined to get a biopsy. I'm assuming he/she will if it is a "mass" and not a "tiny nodule" but not much more can be said with the info provided. Make sure you see your family doc and he/she will decide on the next step. If you smoke, this is the time to quit.
Ok so is it just as likely to experience symptoms from a 2.6cm (or smaller) lung nodule as it is from a lung mass?
Chest ex ray says lungs show increased interstitial markings with no active infiltrate, mass or effusion. What does that mean?
Depends on context: The interstitium of the lung refers to the area in and around the blood vessels and alveoli (air sacs). This is where the exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide takes place. Inflammation and scarring of the interstitium disrupts this tissues. So the radiologist is noting that there appears to be increased markings in the area. There are many different conditions and disease that cause this pattern.
Lung plural mass. Is that mean it's on the lung surface or part on the mass on the lung and the other part inside the lung. ..thank you?
Pleural mass: A PLEURAL mass means that something of a tumorous nature involves the LINING of the lungs. The mass is BASED in the pleura. It could be extended into the lung. You'd need more information from tests or biopsy procedures to know to what extent spread has occurred if at all. More questions? Contact me at: www. Healthtap. Com/dr-saghafi
3.3 cm mass on husband's left lung. Not there a year ago, at all. Referred for biopsy. Should we be worried? 59 y/o, long time smoker.
Worry yes: But give up no. If this is an isolated lesion and is bad, he may need to have it removed and maybe other treatment. Thankfully he has a yearly CXR to watch for this very problem. Hopefully the biopsy is soon. All the best to your husband and your family. Some lung lesions are OK.See 1 more doctor answer
I have a three centimetre lump in my lungs one opinion is a lymph node and other opinion it was a mass. Should I be pushing for a complete diagnosis?
2 to 2.5 inches.: The word "mass" is typically used to describe a solid growth. One that is 6 cm would measure approximately 2 to 2.5 inches in size. The color, consistency and borders of the mass would be different depending upon the make up of the mass (infectious/inflammatory process versus benign tumor versus malignant tumor).
