Can I have Werther's Original Caramel Hard Candies the day before my colonoscopy? I am on a clear liquid diet.
Yes: The hard candies will dissolve into soft or liquid form before they reach your bowel. While they are not quite clear, they are close enough. And the volume they would produce would be very small. I probably would not do more than 5 or 6 of them, though; maybe 10 at the most. None on day of procedure. Clearer/lighter hard candy would be better. Keep up the water!! Good luck! ...Read more

If your colon is not cleared out, the doctor will not be able to see well enough for the colonoscopy to be of any value. You may need to be prescribed a different bowel prep. ...Read more

Recently diagnosed with diverticulitis, doctor put me on antibiotics & a clear liquid diet, my stool is now very loose and green. Should I be concern?
Could you give me some examples of low roughage foods and then a list of clear liquid diet foods?
You cannot stay on a clear liquid diet for enough time to have it lower weight. You CAN increase water/flavored water at the expense of less food (like rehydrating after exercise) and that is reasonable.
