This organ plays a major role in metabolism and has a number of functions in the body, including glycogen storage, decomposition of red blood cells, plasma protein synthesis, hormone production, and detoxification. There are none.: An elevated alkaline phosphatase is a blood test lab finding. If elevated, could be liver, gall bladder or bone problem. If there is only a mild elevation with all other blood tests being normal, it is possible that there is no problem, and just follow up with repeat blood testing. As usual, don't self- or internet-diagnose. Every american needs a good pcp/team to turn to. (my mantra). ...Read more

My Alkaline Phosphatase is 139, all other liver test normal. I am currently on Zejula and super anemic.
All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Having said that, alkaline phosphatase of 139 alone is not a cause for concern. I trust that you are under the care of a doctor for the treatment of anemia.
Wish you good health!

Certain medications can also cause an elevation. At the very least, a gallbladder ultrasound, a measurement of parathyroid hormone, calcium & phosphate levels and a review of your meds should be done. ...Read more
