What If I Have Sharp Pain In My Thigh
Woke w/sharp pain in inner thigh in one leg, cramp in calf of other. Walked around a bit, pain went away-went back to sleep. Woke to thigh pain again.
Cramps: Recurrent muscle cramps or spasms may be caused by deficiencies of calcium or magnesium. Sometimes they are due to excessive muscle tightness caused by various muscle activities during the day. In this case stretching maneuvers of the legs before going to bed may prevent the nocturnal spasms. You could also take a magnesium supplement daily. See your physician as needed. ...Read more

I have been sneezing alot and every time i do a sharp pain happens in my thigh and chest every time and just recently the pain in my thigh lasted 5min?
This is very strange: and impossible to diagnose remotely. Your intra-abdominal pressure goes up every time you sneeze. If you had a lung problem it could be made worse and cause pain. If you had a spine problem (causing thigh pain) it could conceivably be made worse and cause pain. Hard to tie them both together though. If it keeps up, you should probably be seen. ...Read more

I have a sharp pain in my inner thigh. It happens a couple times a week. Only for a few seconds at a time. What could this be?
Nerve pain: It appears that there is an intermittent impingement of a nerve or muscle which may be positional and causing sharp, shooting thigh pain. The inpingement could be occurring in the groin and may have to do with obesity or prolonged sitting. A small inguinal hernia would be a less likely cause. If symptoms persist or worsen, consult your physician. ...Read more
Sometimes I get the most excruciating sharp pain in my upper thigh, like a safety pin sticking in me..
Thigh pain: there are many causes of this problem. If it is upper thigh might think about meralgia parathestica which is an entrapment of the later femoral cutaneous nerve. This is common in females. Better get that checked out as there are many beneficial treatments for this. Also want to make sure it isnt anything else. Hope this helps. ...Read more

?Hernia ?Back Disc: Sometimes small hernias in the groin will push on nerves very early, before you can feel a lump, and cause the kind of pain that you're describing. Another possibility is a herniated disc in your back, pressing on the nerves to go to these areas. You need to see a physician to sort this out, may need x-rays, and perhaps even a referral to a specialist. Good luck and get well soon! ...Read more
I get sharp pain in top inner left thigh randomly. It started a few weeks ago after a long trip on bus. Usually occurres while sitting.
Tough to say: without being able to examine you in person. Sharp episodic pain usually has a muscle or nerve etiology. Muscle spasm may be the culprit, alternatively nerve irritation and condition called meralgia pareshetica may be at play. Stretching exercises always help with muscle pain. ...Read more

Sciatica: It sounds like there is pressure on your sciatic nerve, that comes from the spinal column, passes through the bones of the spine, then under a muscle in the buttocks. Even tho u feel the pain in your leg, massage to the back and buttocks, rest and hot or cold packs should help. Also ibruprofen, and sometimes pain meds or muscle relaxants if pain severe. I have a sharp pain in my left thigh. Comes back every other second. It's been going on for the past couple hours. I did sleep weird, but still idk.
Not likely serious: A sharp pain every other second is not the typical symptom for a significant illness . There is a common nerve condition of the thigh but it doesn't usually cause this type of pain. Rather it causes numbness and tingling or a burning pain. I suspect your pain is unlikely to be a sign of a significant problem and will shortly go away. Of course it it does persist you will need to see your physician ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
