Maybe: You must realize that what ever the mother ingests there is some passing to the breastmilk. They would certainly be a small amount of opioid medication passed on to the baby. In general this is safe however over long periods of time it would be possible for the child to perhaps be somewhat opioid tolerant and therefore there's always the possibility of opioid withdrawal. Yes: With a half life of 12 hours, the residual med in your system has dropped to about 1/16 of the treatment level and at that point little is able to cross over into the milk. The hydrocodone may be a problem. Maternal doses of more than 30mg/day have produced sedation and lack of breathing in infants.Ibuprofen during breast feeding is quite safe at normal doses. ...Read more

Relatively safe: Hydrocodone is widely prescribed in nursing mothers as an effective pain med with minimal effect on the baby.
