What Hormone Stimulates The Production Of Thyroxine
Production of antidiuretic (adh), thyroxine and t3, (liothyronine) parathyroid (pth), hormones of the adrenal cortex and the pancreas, can you tell me about this?
Complex: Please ask a specific question. This is way too complex and vague to answer. If you want to know about all these hormones, consider an Endocrinology fellowship at a major teaching hospital. Of course, before that, you will need a BS, an MD, and a 3 yr Internal Medicine residency. ...Read more
A hormone (from greek ὁρμή, "impetus") is a chemical released by a cell or a gland in one part of the body that sends out messages that affect cells in other parts of the organism. Only a little amount of hormone is required to alter cell metabolism. In essence, it is a chemical messenger that transports a signal from ...Read more
Is a natural hormone like "armour" better to use than sythetics like levoxyl (thyroxine) or synthroid?
Thyroxine is a type: The thyroid gland secretes two types of hormones: thyroxine (t4) and triiodothyronine (t3), but it produces T4 at much higher levels than t3. When treating thyroid hormone deficiency, your physician may prescribe levothyroxine (which is oral tablet of t4), liothyronine (oral formulation of t3), or combinations of such, or even dessicated (dried) pig thyroid as replacement therapy. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
My Synthroid (thyroxine) level was too high and i became a bit hyperthyroid. I am nursing, should I be concerned about extra hormone passing to my baby?
Been having elevated BP since total thyroidectomy 3 weeks ago. Tsh was 17 and on Synthroid (thyroxine) 125. Will BP fluctuate until hormone levels stable?
What do you suggest if my thyroid stimulating hormone shows TSH 16 should I increase or decrease the thyroxine dose?
I'm 27 year old male with a thyroid stimulating hormone level of 3.92 miu/l and ft4 (free thyroxine) of 1.3 ng/dl. Do I have a thyroid problem?
Triiodothyronine : 0.76 ng/ml; thyroxine : 5.27 ; thyroid stimulating hormone : 1.15. Is this normal?
Probably: In interpreting thyroid hormone levels, you have to consider several things: What is the clinical situation at the time of the lab draw- as stress, medications, even pregnancy can all effect the levels and what they should be. Every lab also has a slightly different 'normal' range depending on how they measure the hormone. Seeing the trend also helps - Are they stable, going up or down? ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Been taking synthroid (thyroxine) (125) for 6+ months and just discontinued. How long until TSH/thyroid hormones return to baseline levels?
You need synthroid (thyroxine): If you have been diagnosed with hypothyroidism and a physician has placed you on synthroid, (thyroxine) this is a lifelong replacement therapy. If the diagnosis was correct, your thyroid can no longer produce enough thyroid hormone and without the continuous thyroid replacement therapy (synthroid) you will eventually experience all the signs and symptoms of hypothyroidism. Talk to your Dr. before stopping med ...Read more

My thyroid test shows thyroxine 13.3 microgram %, tri iodo thyroxine 1.81 ng/ml thyroid stimulating hormone 1.8 uIU/ml. Is there any problem?
Thyroid tests: These appear to be normal values, but you did not provide the normal values: the normal range varies from one lab to another. If they're normal, then you are not hyper or hypo thyroid. But why were these tests performed? This needs to be interpreted by whomever ordered these tests. ...Read more
I have irregular periods,

Evaluation : Since it has been 1 year that you are trying to conceive and you have irregular periods you should undergo an evaluation by an obgyn or fertility specialist your lh level is normal but there are others tests and hormones that should be checked such as day 3 fsh, estradiol, amh, prolactin, thyroid function tests, pelvic sonogram and exclusions of other conditions such as pcos. ...Read more
I am taking sulfamethoxazole and spironolactone for acne, but still have active jaw line acne. Could Synthroid (thyroxine) help in balancing my hormones too?
Absolutely not: Synthroid (thyroxine) should only be taken in cases of hypothyroidism and under the care of a physician, NP, or PA Taking it would increase metabolism; I doubt that this would have an effect on your acne (it's a different hormone pathway entirely) and might make it worse. See your doc or dermatologist if still having probes w/ur acne. Best of luck! ...Read more
So the internist said it wasn't necessary for my mom to increase her synthroid (thyroxine) dosage of 25 mcg because she has active thyroid hormone (T3) of 2.9. Do you agree?
What are factors that determine someone with hypothyroidism must be on synthroid (thyroxine) forever?i have it(just high TSH)other thyroid hormones're normal
Failing thyroid: Most likely you have Hashimotos thyroiditis, which is gradually "eating away" at your thyroid. Your doctor could check TPO antibodies. Your gland may not be totally dead now, but it likely will be eventually, but total hypothyroidism and a dead gland could be in 3 months or 10 years. Probably best to take your synthroid (thyroxine) to avoid the symptoms of hypothyroidism, but talk to your doc. ...Read more
