Approximately 7% of babies are not delivered by 42 weeks, and when that happens, it is referred to ...Read more

Took test too soon: Hi. You probably took Plan B at the appropriate time, so that would make it too soon to have taken the pregnancy test. If you MISS your next expected period, take the preg test about a week after missing the period. But don't worry in the meantime... Plan B is highly effective. Good luck, and use effective birth control regularly to prevent undesired pregnancy. ...Read more

Can prog. And estro. Hormones change a suggestive unviable pregnancy at 5wk6days ultrasound? And why does pregnancy test still show positive?

No genetics do: Unfortunately, genetic incompatibility is the most common reason for miscarriages. There are two types of miscarriages, 1.) An Incomplete Abortion whereby the products of conception are ejected with bleeding immediately. 2.) Missed Abortion where the pregnancy is still present in the uterus, stops growing, the products are not "ejected"and the HCG hormone output stagnates or declines in value. ...Read more

I had an abortion 3 months ago and I took a pregnancy test today on 1/24/2013 that was positive, am i pregnant or is the hormone still in my system?

Likely New Pregnancy: Three months after a D&C your HCG levels should be <2. Unless you have retained tissue or a molar pregnancy which has turned into gtn (gestational trophoblastic neoplasia), both which are fairly rare after surgical evacuation of the uterus. Check with your OB & most likely your HCG levels are increasing c/w a new pregnancy. You would know if birth control was used & if you had exposures. Good luck. ...Read more

Not likely: Remember, nothing is 100% effective, but having a well-placed Mirena (levonorgestrel) is >98% effective. A positive test will still occur in case of pregnancy & if it does happen, see your doc asap so your pregnancy can be evaluated & the Mirena (levonorgestrel) removed. It's normal to skip menses and a negative pregnancy test can be trusted, so relax. ...Read more

Dropping hcg: If your hcg is really dropping then you don't have a viable pregnancy. It should go up by at least 15% every 3-4 days. However, in case it was a lab error, I would repeat the hcg a few days after that 26 to confirm it did indeed drop. This sounds like a miscarriage. ...Read more
