Hi my husband has dialysis 3times a week, monwedand fri. He has had a dental treatment and feeling unwell and decided to miss today. Will he be ok?

Not a good idea: The best plan is to share his symptoms with the people at the dialysis center so they can evaluate his feeling unwell. Skipping treatment may just make him feel worse and poses risk to his well being. Get him back in touch with the center to schedule a session right away.

What is the best time to dink nepro before or after dialysis treatment?

What is the best time to dink nepro before or after dialysis treatment?

Best time for Nephro: Nephro is a product that is high in protein, and low in potassium and phosphates. If you have an 8 oz. Portion of nephro, it really does not matter when you ingest it, unless the patient is fluid overloaded. That is because hemodialysis (hd) does not remove protein. I would take it at the start of one's hd session to make sure an adequate amount of fluid, potassium and phosphorus is removed.

How will I feel after initial dialysis treatment?

How will I feel after initial dialysis treatment?

First dialysis: You may not feel better immediately after your first hemodialysis session (hd), as it sometimes takes 3 or 4 hd's to feel better. If you have no problem with fluid removal on hd, you should certainly feel better inside of two weeks. Your blood count should be rising as well as you're being given medicine to increase it on dialysis along with medicine to treat your hyperparathyroidism. Good luck.

Can you tell me if a person is recieving dialysis and decieded to stop treatment. How long would they live?

Dialysis: Usually not very long. Water accumulates and that makes breathing more difficult. Urea accumulates and that makes the person sleepy and eventually unarousable. Blood salts get all messed up and that can cause the heart to stop suddenly. This is just for starters. The longest I have seen a patient live after stopping dialysis is 1 week, but I am sure there are reports of people going longer.
