Wait to see DDS: If you discover you have broken or chipped filling, it is necessary to get the filling replaced to ensure the long-term health of your tooth. If there is no pain, keep the area clean and see DDS. ...Read more
My 3 year old needs 3 tooth fillings.I'm leary about procedures with her that little.Wont the teeth fall out anyway orCan I wait until she gets older?
Please get help: Cavities are infections. Untreated they can damage adjacent baby teeth and underlying permanent teeth. Those baby teeth are guides for permanent teeth as they erupt. If they come out too soon it can be horrific. See a Dentist or a Pedodontist (pediatric dental specialist) for immediate care. Please don't neglect this important care. ...Read more
I just had a cavity filled that was really close to a nerve. I could feel my tooth hurting during the procedure and evenafter that. The filling is moving and is falling out. Is itnormal?
Normal: Every time the dentist drills on a tooth there is trauma to the nerve the closer the decay is to the nerve the more trauma. It is normal to have some pain after the treatment is finished. You should be concerned if the pain is getting worse, waking you up at night, or if you are unable to eat on that side after a week or so. I usually tell my patients to give it a week. ...Read more

Is a cavity in a baby tooth worth filling? My daughter is 8 and losing most of her baby teeth. She has a cavity in one that will probably fall out soon. Do i need to get this filled? I don't want to cause her any more pain than I have to.
Fill the tooth!: Some baby teeth are meant to stay in a child's mouth until about age 10 or 11. If the tooth you are referring to is one of those teeth, it is maintaining the space for that adult tooth. That is why it should be filled. In addition, in today's world of dental medicine, a filling should not cause any pain! see your dentist to determine when that tooth should be falling out. Than make your decision. ...Read more

My filling fell out months ago and i never had a chance to get it filled back. Is it possible the teeth might fall out?
Unlikely, but.......: I doubt your tooth will actually fall out. This usually occurs with years and years of periodontal neglect and destruction of bone from periodontal disease. It is more likely that you will need root canal therapy and\or a crown if you wait too long or if there is already extensive caries. Even worse would be the need to have the tooth extracted if it is un-repairable. See a dentist asap! ...Read more

Not uncommon: Perhaps 'normal' is not the right word. It happens frequently. Think of it this way. You have a small tumor in your abdomen. You had no pain.
