What Happens If Vitamin D Is Low For A Long Time
My vitamin d is low despite prescription supplements. Gallbladder removed long ago so may not absorb fat-soluble vitamins. Should i try ox bile?
Low vitamin D3: There may be a group of patients who do not absorb vitamin d3 efficiently. They seem to require higher doses of d3 ( 6000 to 10000 units daily) to achieve adequate blood levels, (between 40 and 70). Don't give up, stay on your vitamin d3 and get annual blood level. Your gallbladder surgery is likely unrelated. ...Read more
How long do I need to expose my body to the sun (per day) to get vitamin d and sun benefits? Is it fine at any time of the day?
Latitude and time: During summer, you need about 20 min at mid day, longer at other times of day. In winter, or extreme northern latitudes, it takes longer. This is why there is usually a seasonal winter drop in blood vit d levels. ...Read more
If you have low vitamin d, will it make you tired all of the time? I can sleep 10 hours and wake up still tired.
I had my vitamin d tested for the 1st time. Turns out I have deficiency. Can one estimate how long ago the deficiency started? Weeks, months, years?
Can guess based on:: It's possible to get adequate vitamin d from sun exposure in spring ; summer- about 15 minutes of sun between 10-3 gives most people enough d if you don't use sunscreen. So if you get sun you have probably been deficient since the fall; if you avoid sun or use sunscreen it's possible you have been deficient for years. My vitamin d level is 9, I am in the middle east and wear head scarf, for how long do I need to sit under the sun and what is the time?
Long time: We figure 20-30 minutes of "full body" - read bikini or "birthday suit" exposure for adequate skin conversion in the central il mid summer sun.
