My 3 week old's umbilical cord came out a few days ago. The inside of her button is red. It doesn't seem to hurt when i clean it. Should i be worried?
Common finding: Just treat it as you would a cut or scratch by keeping the area clean and dry. If the redness extends outward or you see discharge, have the doc check it out. ...Read more
Why is my two weeks old baby still bleeding from the umbilical cord after it has fallen off within the first week?
Not unusual: It is not unusual for there to be some minor spotting/oozing from the cord area even after the stump has come off. Babies don't make much new blood in the first months so their level starts out higher than adults to begin with & normally falls as baby grows. The problem with this move is you can let too much blood go across & babies blood will be too thick & could lead to kidney damage or stroke. I'd avoid it. ...Read more
