What Happens If My Babys Umbliical Cord Doesnt Fall Off
When should the umbilical cord stump fall off? My baby is 15 days old and it's still firmly attached. I'm starting to worry it won't ever fall off.
My newborn's umbilical cord stump just fell off. There is what looks like pus where the cord was. How should I treat this? Can I tub bathe her?
Umbilical stump: You can wash the cord area with soap and water during a tub bath and dry it up with a q-tip. You can also just wipe the umbilical stump with alcohol. Sometimes that area may not dry up quickly so your pediatrician may cauterize it with a silver nitrate stick. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

My babies umbilical cord fell off today(baby is 1 Week Old). Do I put anything on it to help it heal faster?? The belly button is also outie.
Not necessarily: The umbilical stump is made to fall off - after it does there is often very little needed to facilitate it completing its healing. You can use a small drop of liquid soap (not antibacterial) to aid in the remainder drying out - but if you do nothing it will likely be just fine! If it is not healed by the 2 week visit - your provider will take care of the rest. ...Read more

Why does my baby start kicking and flipping more when I lay down? Could my positioning cause umbilical cord issues?

With regard to positioning and cord compression, it is typically the position of the fetus/cord in a uterus with a low amount of amniotic fluid that is occasionally associated with "issues" or problems. ...Read more

Why does my arm fall asleep when I put it in front of my head laying down on my stomach? Is it normal?
Also why does my left arm feel like it wants to go to sleep when I fall asleep? Should I be worried?
May be nerve problem: If an arm falls asleep, goes numb or tingly, or has changes in circulation, just in certain positions of the arm, there may be compression of the nerves and/or blood vessels to that arm. Sometimes special x-rays are done to see if there is a problem of the nerve at the spine. ...Read more
