I poked my eye iris with a sharp paper and now there is a hole in it. Is it gonna heal itself?

I poked my eye iris with a sharp paper and now there is a hole in it. Is it gonna heal itself?

Need eye exam: Your iris is covered by a clear dome called the cornea. I can't imagine a situation where a piece of paper is able to cut through the cornea and then cut the iris. But if you injured your eye in any way, it is prudent to get an eye exam immediately. See an optometrist or ophthalmologist. Good luck. ...Read more

My son 4 poked himself in the eye today with a small sharp peice of plastic wire no marks or blood, if it penetrated would I know? Would it bleed?

Not neccessarily: I would be be much happier as an ophthalmologist if the child was screaming or complaining. Corneal abrasions hurt. Injuries to the white of the can be painful or not. Penetrating injuries even with a piece of plastic that is described as ""sharp" cause me great concern about potential puncture wounds that can be devastating. The child needs urgent evaluation by a child friendly ophthalmologist. ...Read more

An ophthalmologist can carefully examine your eye to determine the extent of injury. ...Read more

Recurrent erosion: In this disease, the basement membrane of the cornea is damaged, usually from a prior trauma that did not heal correctly. In the wee hours of the morning when your eye is moving under closed lids, the epithelium overlying the damaged basement membrane becomes loose and a defect forms, giving you pain and tearing. Is it possible to poke your eye out by rubbing it excessively?

Is it possible to poke your eye out by rubbing it excessively?

No: Nothing's impossible, but the eye is very well attached in the orbit, by both the optic nerve, 6 extraocular muscles and multiple soft tissue attachments. It take significant trauma to forcefully remove an eye. If by "poking your eye out" you mean just penetrating it or rupturing it, this is more plausible, but would still require significant force. ...Read more

Someone please help me I took Cialis last night and I woke up with a sharp pain in my eyes?

Not related: Cialis™ isn't associated with eye pain. This is probably due to dryness and should resolve with the use of artificial tears. Sometimes eyelids don't completely close during sleep therefore the eye surface dries. Other possibility is an corneal erosion. If tears don't help, see an eye md. Cialis™ rarely causes loss of vision ;/or blurry vision, color vision changes. At any rate see eyemd if not btr. ...Read more

I sometimes get a sharp pain above my eyes before cumming during sex causing me to stop. What is it?

Probably not related: As there aren't any anatomical relations between your sexual organs and your eye, they are probably not directly related. However, this may represent increased pressure in your head being transmitted to your eyes which may cause and/or exacerbate pre-existing eye inflammation. Using artificial tears 3-4x/day for a few weeks as well as cool compresses may be able to help with these symptoms. ...Read more

Are you supposed to pull your eye lashes every day to make sure none of them are loose enough to poke your eyes?

Are you supposed to pull your eye lashes every day to make sure none of them are loose enough to poke your eyes?

No: Eye lashes, like hair everywhere else on the body, have a particular growth cycle. When they fall out, they tend to get caught by your other lashes or drop onto your face. Occasionally, a lash may fall onto the eye, but the natural tears end up flushing it out. Pulling the lashes may cause some to be releasse prematurely, giving a thinned appearance to them. ...Read more
