On IUI with inj. 1st cycle 125/225IU Follistim-3 follicles, 2nd cycle 200IU Follistim-1 follicle. 3rd IUI MD wants 450IU, is that dose too high?

On IUI with inj. 1st cycle 125/225IU Follistim-3 follicles, 2nd cycle 200IU Follistim-1 follicle. 3rd IUI MD wants 450IU, is that dose too high?

Not too high: It's still a standard dose, used frequently. Whether it's "too high" really depends on how you responded at lower doses., especially what your estradiol (estrogen) level peaked at. Trust your doctor, but ask him/her questions if unclear. Good wishes. ...Read more

I am on follistim for IUI. Does the dose have to change each cycle if 1-3 follicles are produced and estradiol is increasing appropriately. ?

No it doesn't have t: but it definitely could, if you see the difference. you might go through 3-4 cycles without ever changing a dose (if the US and E2 support that,) or you might change doses several times in each cycle. A woman's body is not a machine so monitoring is critical to doing gonadotropins safely and well. Good wishes. ...Read more

I have three cysts after using clomid and follistim last cycle. They are functional based in E2. Will this interfere with ovulation this cycle?

Functional cysts: Functional cysts are the cysts in which the eggs grow and from which you ovulate so they are necessary for ovulation to occur. Fertility visit: Follistim comes as an injection not a pill. It would be strange for a doctor to distribute fertility drugs to a 20 year old who has only tried to get pregnant at random times. It is also highly unusual to give fertility medications without going through testing and extensive counseling regarding the risks and benefits of the medications. Consider a 2nd opinion. ...Read more
