What happens if you don't take care of a hernia?

What happens if you don't take care of a hernia?

Can't predict: There are many different types of hernias, but generally they can become larger, and cause problems due to the increased size such as difficulty performing daily activities at the same level you could without a hernia. They can also cause pain that may limit activities as well. They can also become incarcerated, something that may require emergent operation.

I don't have insurance and have a hernia. Will the emergency room take care of me?

I don't have insurance and have a hernia. Will the emergency room take care of me?

Only emergency: Emergency room admissions are based on emergency only not on insurance. Even if you have insurance if hernia is not incarcerated will not get admitted , have to come electively to get it repaired. Go to your local hospital or city hospital they will make arrangements for repair of your hernia as soon as possible.

How long does it take for hiatal hernias to become serious? Do any particular symptoms show when this happens?

How long does it take for hiatal hernias to become serious? Do any particular symptoms show when this happens?

Hiatal hernia: Hiatal hernias do not go away with time. They either stay the same in size or get larger. You only need surgery if you have gerd/ heartburn that isn't controlled with medication. Also, if you have barrett's esophagus, that is an indication for surgery as well since that is a precancerous condition.

How long does a hernia take to heal?

It depends.: Not all hernia surgeries are alike: where was the hernia? Was mesh used for the repair? Was the operation performed via minimally invasive surgery? What is the health of the patient? What are you defining as 'healing': return to work? Pain-free? Sports? Because of all these factors, the answer could be "weeks-to-months". This question is best answered by the hernia surgeon who did the case.

Please tell me how long it takes for to heal after a hernia is removed?

Why does hernia recurr in open mesh ? Why does recovery take 6 weeks ?

Why does hernia recurr in open mesh ?
Why does recovery take 6 weeks ?

Multifactorial : Mesh does reduce the risk of recurrence yet, no matter how strong the mesh, it often is anchored to inherently weakened tissue. Factors that contribute to recurrence include heavy lifting, chronic illness, obesity, smoking, wound infections, and steroid use, to name a few.

What is hernia disease . How can cure it. And what are the proaction can we take ln our daily life?

What is hernia disease . How can cure it. And what are the proaction can we take ln our daily life?

Generic answers: A hernia is a hole (weak spot) in the tough muscle layers that enclose our organs. When an abdominal hernia exists, pressure on the abdomen (eg cough or lifting) tends to push a bubble through the hole and starts to stretch it. If left alone, the hole opens more and more and eventually lets some organ out of the cavity into the bubble. It can get trapped, causing symptoms. Only cure is surgery.

Ihave a lnguinal hernia for fifty years never b othered me i wear a truss three weeks ago i took ofthe truss to take a shower hernia hasnt come out i?

Okay: An inguinal hernia, as you may know, is simply a protrusion of tissue through a defect in the muscle wall, usually at times of increased abdominal pressure such as when bearing down or lifting. It sounds as though you have achieved some measure of sustained manual reduction through long-term use of your truss.

Sometime near year 2001 i had know that I have a discal hernia, from that time till now i take tramadol all days for the pain, don't know how to stop?

Talk to your doctor: You really need to talk to your doctor. Pain specialists may be able to decrease your need for so much tramadol. There are alternatives to medications that may help if you are not a candidate for discectomy. See your doctor for two main reasons. First the need for chronic medication to relieve pain. Second if there are options for your heniated disc.

I take 20mg of Omeprazoldaily for hiatus hernia problems, is this safe to take longterm ?

I take 20mg of Omeprazoldaily for hiatus hernia problems, is this safe to take longterm ?

Proper diagnosis: A hiatal hernia simply means the stomach is a bit higher above the diaphragm than what is expected. It does not cause symptoms in and of itself. Reflux of stomach acid into the foodpipe (esophageal reflux) can cause heartburn in which case use of weight loss, antacids and elevation of the torso in the bed is advised. Only after these fail should a drug such as Omeprazole be considered.

How long does it take for your body to get used to a mesh. I had a hernia op 2 mnth ago and am still having a lot of pain?

How long does it take for your body to get used to a mesh. I had a hernia op 2 mnth ago and am still having a lot of pain?

Variable: You are most likely having pain secondary to the operation itself, with all the tissue manipulation, trauma, sutures and mesh. While significant pain should be subsided (or at least it should be soon), you may have the sensation of something in the abdominal wall, and occasional minor pain for years, but none of this will likely limit your activities. Hope this helps!

Had endoscope today discovered hietus hernia can this cause sickness I've been having what's best to take for this hernia ?

Had endoscope today discovered hietus hernia can this cause sickness I've been having what's best to take for this hernia ?

Depends on type: of hiatal hernia (sliding or paraesophageal), size, presence of esophageal reflux, and your symptoms. In the majority of cases, small to moderate hiatal hernias cause mild to moderate reflux symptoms, easily controlled with antacids, H2 blockers, and PPIs. The most important finding in your case is that there is no other worrisome finding on EGD.

Second opinion: Having a common inguinal hernia should not be a contrindication to the exercise that you enjoy and keeps you fit. Get a couple of other opinions from physicians familiar with your case about what you can and can't do. You won't want to do close-your-throat lifting; you can probably continue to run / do aerobics. Hope you get your surgery soon.

How long does a double hernia laperscopic surgery usually take?

Variable: Primary bilateral laparoscopic inguinal hernia repair requires about 15 to 30 min to complete per side depending on surgeon experience, the exact type of hernia (direct vs. Indirect), patient body habitus and other factors. If one or more of the hernias is recurrent, that can up to double the time.

Surgery: The only 'cute' is surgery. Medicine just controls the acid so the reflux does less damage to the esophagus.

How long will it take for an untreated strangulated hernia to kill a person?

How long will it take for an untreated strangulated hernia to kill a person?

Depends: Strangulated is different than incarcerated. Incarcerated just means trapped. Strangulated means the trap is so tight it cut off blood supply and the tissue dies. If the tissue is fat, you may have pain etc, but survive for quite a while. If the tissue is intestine you will start vomiting, soon become septic and in a worst case could die within 24 hours if not treated.
