Aspiration: Usually, when we choke, we don't actually let the food into the lungs. On rare occasion, it can happen though. Concerning symptoms include continuing cough, fevers and chest pains. Worse GERD: it sounds like your GERD is worse. It may be that you need to have an increase in your medication and buckling down on antireflux precautions. Hopefully you'll be able to tell more after the endoscopy. Stick with your current medications for now, and consider adding in extra Tums (calcium carbonate) when ever you have worse symptoms.
