Can you take birth control while drinking? Will it be less effective?

Can you take birth control while drinking? Will it be less effective?

Drug interactions: The metabolism of oral contraceptives (OCs) is accelerated by any drug that increases liver microsomal enzyme activity such as phenobarbital, phenytoin, griseofulvin, and rifampin. As a result, the contraceptive efficacy of an OC is likely to be decreased in women taking these drugs. Alcohol does not impair the efficacy of OC.

Asking again in better details. I do not drink, nor am I on birth control. Spider anigoma! (18-20) all over body. I'm only 26, what could cause this?

Asking again in better details. I do not drink, nor am I on birth control. Spider anigoma! (18-20) all over body. I'm only 26, what could cause this?

Depends.: High dose Vit A and C skin creams can cause increased superficial vessels. Other otc creams and lotions may do so too, depending (some are not well studied or don't report their side effects accurately or at all, sometimes.) Long-term unprotected tanning or UV exposure also damages the skin. Is anyone else in your family the same way? See a dermatologist to sort this out.

What happens if you drink while on your period and birth control?

No: While you are on the period is usually when you are taking the placebo pills this is the best time for alcohol bec it doesn't change hormone levels. Once you start the new pack yo are risking a drop in protection everytime you drink or take meds while on ocp.

I drink beer most of the time and I have heard that beer makes birth control not to work? Is this true? I'm on the shot by the way.

No: Theoretically with alcohol use in excess, you can alter the liver's ability to process many drugs, including birth control. However, a few beers a week, even a couple a night should not be enough to alter their action, especially with the depot Provera (medroxyprogesterone) shot.
