See below: E-cigarettes contain only nicotine vapor. They don't contain tobacco. Nicotine does not cause lung cancer or heart disease. It is the 200+chemicals produced when tobacco burns that cause disease. So E-cigaretts are much safer that tobacco. However, E-cigaretts can be just as addicting as tobacco and there is concern that they are being heavily promoted towards young adults>lead to smoking tobacco. ...Read more

That's the problem: Tobacco companies producing e-cigs have not had to do any research because courts ruled that it is just another kind of cigarette, and the fda has no jurisdiction. The propellant is propylene glycol, which is in an oil. What this does when inhaled is simply unknown in humans. The additives, flavorings, preservatives and whatever else is in them also have not been studied. We simply cannot say now. ...Read more

Best to start with a low dose and increase as needed -good luck. ...Read more
Is 10mg of Lexapro (escitalopram) the best lowest start dose or is it better to start with 5mg to experience less side effects?
SIDE EFFECTS: You could start with 5 mg but 10 is recommended. Don't look up all the side effects - you most probably wont get the most terrible ones, and the mild ones aren't much. If you do find a new development ask your dr about it. You may have to increase dosage until you feel better. Be a bit more trusting. ...Read more

Can going from 22.5mg of methotrexate injections to 25mg (in a 6year old) increase your chance of side effects? So if didn't have before can have now?
Yes, definitely: A weekly dose of 22.5mg of Methotrexate injections is already a pretty high dose for a 6yo child, so i would not go up further. I would reduce it to 12.5 or 15mg of Methotrexate weekly injections and add either Enbrel (etanercept) (less painful) or humira(equally effective and better for eye inflammation and ibd-related arthritis).Talk to your rheumatologist about it.Biologics are very safe with fewer side efx. ...Read more

I've been on 10mg of Lexapro (escitalopram) for 3 days and the side effects are bothering me. Is it ok to reduce it to 5mg for a few days? My Dr. is unavailable.
Try 5mg AM & 5mg PM: Does your Dr have a backup? That might be worth a try. Otherwise, since you've just started it, early short-lived side effects are common and may disappear on their own. Another reasonably safe way to lessen them may be to take half in the morning and half at night. That's probably less risky than half dose per day. As you know, keep Dr informed ASAP! Best wishes! ...Read more
