What does quad screen tell you about twins?

What does quad screen tell you about twins?

Not much.: Serum screening for twins is not very accurate. If you are concerned about down syndrome in twins, invasive prenatal diagnosis or non-invasive cell-free fetal dna isolation from the maternal blood are better options for you. ...Read more

What is the quad screen test?

What is the quad screen test?

Genetic screening: The quad screen measures 4 different substances in the mother's blood and calculates the statistical likelihood of the baby being affected by various abnormalities such as down syndrome and spina bifida. This is a screening test only and does not tell you if the baby does or does not have the condition. If it is positive, it may help you and your doctor decide if additional tests are needed. ...Read more

25wk fetal boy; us shows eif, and both dilated kidneys 5.2mm/5.8mm pyelectasis, normal quad screen testing, should I be worried? Is this serious?

On the fence. If : There were > 2 markers, especially if they included nuchal thickening ; hyperechoic bowel , your OB would have offered a genetic amniocentesis to rule out aneuploidy, an abnormal # of fetal chromosomes. Ask to see a fetal-maternal medicine specialist who can review fetal growth ; markers, do a super-high-tech fus ; maybe a fetal echocardiogram. Then make an informed decision about amnio. ...Read more

I had my 20wk ultrasound. They told me that she had a mild increase in nuchal fold.Quad screen was negative.Could my baby have down syndrome?Worried

See below: First off, it's very easy and common to make the nuchal fold look big when it really isn't, so that's the good news. Bad news is that if it truly is thickened, it is concerning. A nuchal fold over 6 mm increases the risk of down's by 17 times. So divide your quad screen results by that for true risk. Again, if truly large, would consider an amniocentesis. Could also get a level 2 us to confirm. ...Read more

are there results in the normal range ?

MoM: As a general ob/gyn i don't typically look at the absolute values you describe, rather the values come with another number a mom or multiples of the median. This number pairs you with other women of the exact gestational age and compares your marker to the general populations at that exact gestational age. Ask your doctor if your test results are normal. ...Read more

Get quad screen : Choroid plexus cysts for the vast majority of fetuses are benign if small, but a quad screen, while not extremely specific, can give information about the risk of Trisomy 18, which can present with choroid cysts. A negative quad screen is a very reassuring test since it has high predictive value if negative( great probability of healthy baby IF negative) go get screened and increase your comfort! ...Read more
