What Does Penicillin Cure
Doxycycline: Doxycycline for 2-4 weeks is recommended if penicillin cannot be given, or sometimes ceftriaxone. However, penicillin is by far the best drug. If you had a severe penicillin allergy in the past, then probably penicillin should be avoided. Otherwise, it still might be the best choice for you. Discuss it with your doctor or, even better, an infectious diseases or STD specialist. ...Read more
No: There are lots of types of molds - the one that makes penicillin is just one. The amount of penicillin is very small (too little to do anything) and penicillin is very poorly absorbed into the body from the GI track. I don't know what illness you want to treat with mold, but it won't do much for an infection. ...Read more
Treatment: Treatment Options for Neurosyphilis The antibiotic penicillin is used to treat syphilis and neurosyphilis. It may be injected or taken orally. The usual regimen lasts 10 to 14 days. The antibiotics probenecid and ceftriaxone are often used in conjunction with penicillin. Depending on your case, you may need to stay in the hospital while being treated. During your recovery, you will need blood tests at the three- and six-month marks. After that, you should have blood tests every year following your treatment for three years. Your doctor will continue to monitor your cerebrospinal fluid levels with spinal taps every six months. Neurosyphilis is especially common in HIV-positive people. This is because syphilitic sores make it easier to become infected with HIV. The Treponema pallidum bacteria interact with HIV in a way that makes it harder to treat the syphilis infection. Those with neurosyphilis who are HIV-positive usually need more penicillin injections and have less chance for a complete recovery. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Hai doc, I have an mvp and I already have sinusitis. Does this because of mvp? Can penicillin injection really cure mvp?
I had vrdl 1:64. I got 1 penicillin 1.2 shot. I took 2 tablets of doxycyline hyclate for 2 weeks everyday. Is this enough to cure my syphilis. Am hiv-?
If you were unknowingly infected with syphilis and taking penicillin for oral surgery could that inadvertently cure the syphilis infection?
Couldn't hurt: Chances are that the antibiotic will help treat the problem; however, you probably need a longer and stronger dose to cure syphilis. The antibiotic circulates in your blood to fight bacteria. It doesn't really care where the bacteria is in your body. The real question is are you taking a strong enough dose? Only your md knows for sure. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Not an easy Fix.: A thousand milligrams of penicillin a day for 20 days will probably kill a lot of things, but, it will have no effect on the fungus. The treatment of nail fungus can range from topical solutions to oral anti-fungal medications and everything in between. There is also an array of homeopathic remedies and treatment protocols. Laser treatment is being used and the results look promising. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Unlikely: While taking "leftover" antibiotics is not a generally good idea, the best treatment for a stye (see chalazion or hordeolum) is warm compresses with or without topical eye antibiotics. See your ophthalmologist if hot compresses x 15-20 minutes every 4-6 hours for a week does not lead to a pointing and eruption of the stye. ...Read more

Rheumatic fever: Rheumatic fever is caused by an inflammatory reaction to streptococcal pharyngitis. Recurrent bouts can further damage the heart. Risk is related to exposure to strep. If she teaches elementary school, then I would say yes, she needs to take penicillin every day to protect against a strep infection. ...Read more
Can a10 day course of non-penicillin antibiotics orally to treat Strep throat unknowingly cure/treat primary or secondary syphilis?
Here are some. ..: I would not contemplate the possible effective Rx for asymptomatic syphilis. If you think you're in a high risk for syphilis due to personal lifestyle, just do inexpensive indirect serological test first (VDRL or RPR) ; if (+), do direct confirming serological test (FTA-ABS test). So, ask Doc timely for detail. ...Read more
I had a sore throat 2 weeks ago, GP gave me 500mg penicillin 3x day. I felt cured when taking them, now sore throat has come back. What should I do?
Antibiotic: Penicillin is one of the first antibiotic ever developed to treat infection. Unfortunately, due to it's widespread and indiscriminate use, many bacteria became resistant to this great antibiotic. Today we still use it to treat many different types of infection caused by bacteria sensitive to penicillin. ...Read more
