Not your thyroid: Though you did not mention this, I am assuming your doctor checked your thyroid hormone level and a TSH and that they were fine. Even if you did have thyroid antibodies, that would not make you hypothyroid but would just slightly increase the risk that you could become hypothyroid in the future. More information: Hi. Why did she have her thyroid removed? Usually that's for thyroid cancer. EVERYONE has antibodies in their blood! If she doesn't have thyroid autoantibodies, then she didn't have autoimmune thyroid disease.
