Probabl Inflammation: Inflammation (irritation) of the colon manifests with mucus formation among other symptoms. It may be related to infection or other causes. Only 4 days in not worrisome. However, if lasts, I would see a gastroentrologist for an opinion. Persons at age 50, should have routine colonoscopy for early detection of possible colon cancer. It will also rule out possible inflammatory bowel disease, others.

Uc. Starting to bleed wid mucus bt its b4 I pas stools on its own or on the edge of my 1st few then I pass nrmal stools. Does it mean rectal ulcers?

Mucusy discharge is: Not uncommon with uc. Its the diseased inner lining of rectum and colon which sloughs off and gets excreted. I see you are on Prednisone along with asacol (mesalamine). If you start having increase bloody discharge, fevers, abdominal pain and diarrhes in excess of 8-10 bm then that's a concern. Your symptomsdont sound like a flare up esp. If you r passing normal stools. Its not usually ulcers but worsening inflamma.

Diarrhea: I need more information. Did her doctor request a stool culture? If that was done & it showed bacterial infection then you are on the right track. Modifying her diet and keeping her hydrated is very important. I hope she gets better soon.

Lab results: hight tibc, normal range iron and saturation. Have been passing mucus and blood (few times in past few months) even without stool. Awaiting colonoscopy. Could my lab results mean anemia?

Lab results: hight tibc, normal range iron and saturation. Have been passing mucus and blood (few times in past few months) even without stool. Awaiting colonoscopy. Could my lab results mean anemia?

Depends on your Hemo: Anemia, by definition, means low hemoglobin level. So we need to know your hemoglobin (hb) in order to answer your question. If it is over 12 grams, you do not need to worry about your iron and TIBC etc.

Sounds ok but..: If stools red, bloody see gastroenterologist, if heart feels like what you said see cardiologist they can do the right tests, don't worry sounds not serious, especially if all labs including cbc, cmp, tsh, normal[complete blood count, comprehensive metabolic panel, thyroid stimulating hormone, vitamin d level[25[oh]D], serum iron level. Good lifestyle is all u can do, never smoke, mild alcohol.walk

I have blood and mucus in stool, bloating, mouth sores and an itchy rash on my elbows. Are these related? What could it mean?

They may be related: This sounds as if you should be seen by a GI doctor and evaluated in detail as you may be having the onset of an inflammatory bowel condition, and these can also present with skin and mucous membrane findings. See someone asap. Bring a full list of all your symptoms and the time frames in which they occur, along with all medical records. Good luck and best wishes.

I have mucous in my stool. What could that mean?

Stool mucus or more?: Mucus discharge occurs in up to 50% of patients with irritable bowel syndrome, with or without pain. Mucus may also be produced in response to partial obstruction, chronic constipation, rectal dysfunction, infection, & even from secretory villous tumors of the rectum. At the very least stool studies should help address if mucus white bits you're seeing are "worms" (pinworms, etc.) so rx can begin.
