What Does Low Rdw Mean
Low hemoglobin/RBC.: This simply means there is a low mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration (mchc), or a low average amount of hemoglobin for each red blood cell. It is a measure of the concentration of hemoglobin in a given volume of packed red blood cells. Mchc is low in microcytic anemias, like iron deficiency anemia, and thalassemia. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
All results: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Having said that, it would have been helpful to have all the results and actual values of the results. One possibility is deficiency of iron and folic acid and/or B12. ...Read more
Large platelets or .: Mpv means mean platelet volume. It may increase if large or 'young' platelets are in the blood. Or falsely elevated due to platelet aggregation - can some times happen during blood draw and does not mean there is any illness. In patients who have low platelets high mpv may mean that the bone marrow (where platelets are made) is trying to make more platelets- young ones are usually larger size! ...Read more

Drugs i.E chemotherapy and antibiotics as well as anticonvulsant and other drugs can lower the platelet count. ...Read more
Thanks for asking!: Mch stands for mean corpuscular hemoglobin (average amount of hemoglobin per red blood cell). It is one of the parameters in the red cell index of a CBC test. A low MCH may indicate iron deficiency anemia from dietary insufficiency or blood loss. Further work-up and clinical correlation is suggested. ...Read more

Possibly allergy: Eosinophils are one type of white blood cell. These cells are created in the bone marrow and released into the blood. These cells can be increased in several settings, such as allergies (to drugs and other things), in response to some infections (especially parasites), and in some inflammatory and neoplastic (potentially malignant) blood disorders. See a doc who knows your clinical setting... ...Read more
Low cells: A "low blood count" usually means a low value or # of cells in the CBC (complete blood count). There are many numbers in a cbc, but the main ones are HGB (measure of red blood cells = rbc), WBC (=white bc), and platelets. The other numbers and "differential" help further clarify the cyto(=cell)penia(=low). Additional labs or a bone marrow biopsy may be necessary to evaluate. ...Read more

Nothing: I would draw no conclusion whatsoever from a random finding of an eosinophil count below the reference range. It's an obsolete marker for hypercortisolism but so insensitive and nonspecific as to be worthless. The ranges are set so that several percent of healthy folks fall outside at either end. ...Read more
