What Does Low Insulin Level Mean In Child
Not like high,,: Low Insulin causes glucose levels to stay high or rise which means the glucose can't get into the cells and serve as nourishment. This is seen in type I diabetes (no insulin) and in type ii diabetes (insulin resistance). This means that the body's fat and later muscle reserves are used. However, if there is too much, like in an insulinoma, hypoglycemia can rapidly result causing coma and death. ...Read more
It may..: Low cpeptide suggests that your body is not making enough Insulin and so providing your body with Insulin via a pump or injections may help better regulate your sugar. The pump provides better control because it provides a constant preset-levels as well as meal coverage better than injections can. Consult doc. Good luck. ...Read more
My doctor says I have an insulin level of 14 where the normal should be 10. What does this really mean and what can I do to normalize it.
Exercise & lose wt:
Losing about 10% body weight regular aerobic exercise of at least 150 minutes/week would improve sensitivity to insulin.
For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form.
Practice safe sex, if you have sex. ...Read more

Fasting blood test showed insulin level 31.9- what does this mean. And I will go see my doctor in a couple days but just want to be educated.
Are we looking at insulin level or blood sugar level? If you mean blood sugar level you MUST go as soon as possible. If not, how are you checking your insulin level.
While waiting to see your doctor please go online and look at both blood sugar level and insulin level. I may be wrong but I think you are not measuring your insulin level.
Please let me know how things go.
41 yr old female, healthy weight and moderately active. Postprandial insulin level is 66. Glucose is normal. Eating a low carb, low sugar diet but feel shaky and hungry after eating. What to do?
Sounds backwards: Google my name & then go to my website: Go gluten free, avoid all dairy, transition slowly to at least 80% unprocessed "foods EXACTLY as they grow up out of the ground and in the field' = (*0%) vegetarain. A1c 5.2, CPeptide 1.5, Insulin level 4.3 uIU/mL, Estimated Mean Plasma Glucose 87.16. Fasting was 79. Was told to start Metformin...why? Do these numbers mean I am diabetic? Afraid to eat certain foods now.
I have pcos. My glucose tolerance test was perfect. My insulin level was so low it couldn't be found. I was told that's not good. Why is that bad?
It's not good: Or bad -- just a test that should have never been ordered since the test is meaningless in that situation and most labs can't do accurate Insulin levels to begin with. If you didn't have insulin, you would have lapsed into a coma from high glucose levels long ago. The diagnosis of pcos is not made by a GTT or Insulin levels. ...Read more
Am I diabetic? So worried. A1c 5.2 CPeptide 1.5. Insulin level 4.3 uIU/mL Estimated Mean Plasma Glucose 87.16. Are the numbers normal? I am so afraid to eat sugar and carbs. 51 years 120 lbs.
What's the problem?: Your HgbA1c and glucose are fine. Diabetes at your age is genetic and not caused by eating sugar or carbs. You're right to fear it, but even if you have the genes for it, you can hold it at bay by staying physically fit. Be less afraid of sweets and more afraid of not exercising. Best wishes. ...Read more
A1c 5.2 -CPeptide 1.5- Insulin level 4.3 uIU/mL. MPGlucose 87.16. One doc told me to start Metformin because of low insulin level. 2nd doc said I was NOT prediabetic. Fasting runs86-93. Do any of these numbers say prediabetes or am I normal? Anxiety!
1: I hope you are seeing your Gynecologist to monitor your hormone levels at your age.
2: In my opinion "pre-diabetes" is a meaningless term. Either you have diabetes or you do not. Seems you don't have diabetes - well done!!
3: Anxiety needs care. Have your doctor refer you to a Psychologist. No you are not crazy but you do need care. ...Read more

Insulin: High endogenous insulin levels may be due to an insulin secreting tumor or spikes in blood sugar, but I don't think that exertion raises the insulin levels unless blood sugar rises. However if you have had problems with low blood sugar after exercise, consult an endocrinologist for evaluation and advice. ...Read more
My fasting insulin level is 28. .. Why could it be like that? And how dangerous and serious is it?
Insulin 28: Do you mean fasting insulin or fasting blood glucose? There is no need to measure insulin. If you blood sugar level is normal, relax! If the blood sugar is high you need more insulin. If the blood sugar is low you need less insulin. I presume you have Type 1 diabetes. If so you should consider continuous insulin infusion. Your primary doctor should be able to help you with this. ...Read more
Not fasting: Most common reason for high insulin is a non-fasting state. If one is fasting at time of blood draw, then high insulin is worrisome for insulin resistant state or pre-diabetes. In this case, A1c might be useful to further assess glycemic (sugar) control. Assuming good kidney function, metformin would be useful in treating those w/insulin resistance. Should also check blood pressure & cholesterol 2 ...Read more

Insulin release: Hi. Most dairy products have some sugars in them, and they stimulate insulin release accordingly. Butter has no sugars, but is usually put on things that have sugars/carbohydrates, and as such, insulin is still released in response to the whole package. I advise nonfat dairy for everyone, not just diabetics. Heart disease is twice as likely in diabetes as it is in matched non-diabetics. Good luck! ...Read more
