Is low insulin level harmful?

Is low insulin level harmful?

Not like high,,: Low Insulin causes glucose levels to stay high or rise which means the glucose can't get into the cells and serve as nourishment. This is seen in type i diabetes (no insulin) and in type ii diabetes (insulin resistance). This means that the body's fat and later muscle reserves are used. However, if there is too much, like in an insulinoma, hypoglycemia can rapidly result causing coma and death. ...Read more

I had a fasting insulin level done and it was low 1.5 is that normal?

I had a fasting insulin level done and it was low 1.5 is that normal?

Yes: in the context of fasting, I'm doubtful that insulin has to be there at all. High levels would imply either a start of type II diabetes or uncontrolled insulin secretion from an insulin secreting tumor (non-cancerous moslty). ...Read more

If you have a low cpeptide and insulin level would an insulon pump help with highs and lows?

If you have a low cpeptide and insulin level would an insulon pump help with highs and lows?

It may..: Low cpeptide suggests that your body is not making enough Insulin and so providing your body with Insulin via a pump or injections may help better regulate your sugar. The pump provides better control because it provides a constant preset-levels as well as meal coverage better than injections can. Consult doc. Good luck. ...Read more

Fasting blood test showed insulin level 31.9- what does this mean. And I will go see my doctor in a couple days but just want to be educated.

Fasting blood test showed insulin level 31.9- what does this mean. And I will go see my doctor in a couple days but just want to be educated.

31.9: Are we looking at insulin level or blood sugar level? If you mean blood sugar level you MUST go as soon as possible. If not, how are you checking your insulin level. While waiting to see your doctor please go online and look at both blood sugar level and insulin level. I may be wrong but I think you are not measuring your insulin level. Please let me know how things go. ...Read more

I have pcos. My glucose tolerance test was perfect. My insulin level was so low it couldn't be found. I was told that's not good. Why is that bad?

It's not good: Or bad -- just a test that should have never been ordered since the test is meaningless in that situation and most labs can't do accurate Insulin levels to begin with. If you didn't have insulin, you would have lapsed into a coma from high glucose levels long ago. The diagnosis of pcos is not made by a GTT or Insulin levels. ...Read more

What's the problem?: Your HgbA1c and glucose are fine. Diabetes at your age is genetic and not caused by eating sugar or carbs. You're right to fear it, but even if you have the genes for it, you can hold it at bay by staying physically fit. Be less afraid of sweets and more afraid of not exercising. Best wishes. ...Read more

Anxiety: Two things: 1: I hope you are seeing your Gynecologist to monitor your hormone levels at your age. 2: In my opinion "pre-diabetes" is a meaningless term. Either you have diabetes or you do not. Seems you don't have diabetes - well done!! 3: Anxiety needs care. Have your doctor refer you to a Psychologist. No you are not crazy but you do need care. ...Read more

My insulin level is less than two. How bad is that?

Meaningless: Get your money back from whomever ordered an Insulin level on you in the first place. They are almost always meaningless, and the routine lab assays are notoriously inaccurate, even when ordered appropriately. If you truly had a low Insulin level, you would have already been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. ...Read more

Can heavy lifting daily/over training cause high insulin level?

Can heavy lifting daily/over training cause high insulin level?

Insulin: High endogenous insulin levels may be due to an insulin secreting tumor or spikes in blood sugar, but I don't think that exertion raises the insulin levels unless blood sugar rises. However if you have had problems with low blood sugar after exercise, consult an endocrinologist for evaluation and advice. ...Read more
