What Does Ldl Cholesterol Level 106 Mean
Particle Question: Ldl is a lipoprotein that can be measured by cholesterol (ldl-c) or particle number (ldl-p). Because cholesterol in LDL is highly variable, ldl-c often disagrees with ldl-p. When cholesterol and particle number disagree cvd risk tracks with ldl-p, not ldl-c. Ldl goals vary depending on risk. If your doctor feels you are high risk ldl-p goal is less than 1000 nmol/l. ...Read more

Repeat and diet: Hyperlipidemias are classified according to which types of lipids are elevated, that is hypercholesterolemia, hypertriglyceridemia or both. Additional testing to define the nature of the elevation can help guide treatment, but given the mild nature of your elevation, dietary modification is the initial approach. If you have LDL level of 190, white rings in your eyes, possible FH does that mean you already have some artery issues related to high cholesterol?
Probably: Hi. Maybe/probably, but how odd you don't state your age! Heterozygous FH is a bad actor. HTF old are you? Genes + age (duration) = phenotype (YES, I know genes + environment = phenotype, but I'm making a point!). Many folks with LDL 190 do NOT have heterozygous FH. So don't panic. Take a statin in high dose (maybe with ezetimibe or colesevelam); you at least have ONE LDL receptor gene. ...Read more

Lowering LDL can reduce this risk. LDL levels are estimated by cholesterol (LDL-C). Because the cholesterol carried in LDL particles is highly variable many doctors prefer to use LDL particle number (LDL-P) to manage LDL related risk ...Read more

Don't worry, but do take it seriously - as they say - like a heart attack! ...Read more

HDL: Hdl is not often helped with cholesterol drugs. There is some disagreement about this with crestor (rosuvastatin). But, HDL is very much affected by lifestyle.
