Through hormonal signals, the kidneys control the ...Read more

Had an X-ray tuesday and friday. Showed my kidney stone did not move at all not even an inch from where it was in my kidney. Is that normal?

Depends on location: Was kidney stone in kidney or ureter? Many stones in parenchyma of kidney or even in collecting system do not readily move. If a stone is in ureter speed of movement is usually faster unless get stuck at junction of ureter and bladder.

Stones: A small kidney stones detected by ultrasound can sometimes be missed in plain x-rays. You should go with the ultrasound results. They are small and in your case asymptomatic in many cases they pass on their own hydrate yourself well and read about diet that decreases future stone formation.

Is it possible for a kidney stone to be stuck in the lower portion of the ureter without inflicting any pain? Mine appears stuck (xray), w/ no symptoms?

Is it possible for a kidney stone to be stuck in the lower portion of the ureter without inflicting any pain? Mine appears stuck (xray), w/ no symptoms?

Yes: Eagle it is possible if the stone is not obstructing the flow of the urine. Some stones do not obstruct and therefore do not cause symptoms, but they can eventually become obstructive or partially obstructive so they are often treated if they do not pass on their own.

Kub X-ray showed no stone I am still having severe pain at night on my left side could it still be a kidney stone?

Kub X-ray showed no stone I am still having severe pain at night on my left side could it still be a kidney stone?

Possible: Not all kidney stones show up on x-ray. If the pain is only at night it is not likely to be a stone. You should see your doctor for a proper work-up.

CT showed 4mm kidney stone 8 days ago. X-ray today showed nothing. I don't think it has passed, but not much pain. Should I get another CT?

CT showed 4mm kidney stone 8 days ago. X-ray today showed nothing. I don't think it has passed, but not much pain. Should I get another CT?

CT showing stone: CT scan images are far more precise than plain KUB xray. CT scan will pick up smaller images and will pick up non-calcium containing stones. KUB will reveal only calcium stones and size and position and angles matter for visibility. Getting another CT is not compelling. Drink 4-5 liters per day. Include lemon extract 5 tblspn ReaLemon per day. 4 mm will pass.

Have a spot in low left pelvic area on xray. Need for concern or normal? X ray was for kidney stones but see this spot elsewhere. Not a kidney stone

Have a spot in low left pelvic area on xray. Need for concern or normal? X ray was for kidney stones but see this spot elsewhere. Not a kidney stone

Need more info...: Without a direct scrutinizing look at the films, it is hard to tell for sure what this spot may be, but radiographically phlebolith or calcification on the venous valve of pelvic veins is most commonly confused as incidental finding with no clinical significance as long as being asymptomatic. If so, leave it alone with no need for care al all. More? Ask your doc or contact me, and I can help.

I have kidney stone not blocking anything 9mm. Why do I have back pain and ovary pain? Had u/s & all good there too. Had X-ray and CT too.

I have kidney stone not blocking anything 9mm. Why do I have back pain and ovary pain? Had u/s & all good there too. Had X-ray and CT too.

In Kidney: If the stone is in kidney and not ureter (would be a boulder for the ureter) stone is probably not source of pain if infection absent.

What are the treatments for Kidney Stones. I had hip X-RAYS for another reason and a Kidney Stone showed up in my right kidney on the X-RAY?

Kidney stones: Small kidney stones pass through the bladder. If this stone is less than 5 mm, it will pass. If larger, then the stone should be broken up by lithotripsy - or it can be removed surgically. Then, analysis of the stone content and a metabolic work up is essential to determine why the stone formed. Then a med can be prescribed and diet can be adjusted. Start with drinkin4 liters / day. Diet matters.

4mm kidney stone xray showed it at L4. I've had a lot more pain & haematuria & now buttock/hip pain. Does that indicate the stone has moved to bladder?

Moved somewhat: It is known that these stones will hurt when they move. Bleeding will also occur. Can't always tell where it is by the pain. The closer to the bladder, the more likely you will feel it in the groin area or back. The best way to know where it is, is with an X-ray. Hope it passes quickly

Do all kidney stones show up on kub kidney xray?

No: No, many will not. Ct with kidney stone protocol is much more sensitive. Rarely, certain stones are not seen even with a ct.

I recently had an lumber spine X-ray if I've got kidney stones will they show on this x-ray?

I recently had an lumber spine X-ray if I've got kidney stones will they show on this x-ray?

Kidney Stones: A plain x-ray will only see kidney stones that have partially calcified; not all kidney stones, however, have calcium in them, so if you have typical symptoms - excruciating pain radiating into the groin, for example - you may well have a stone that is not calcified. Other tests can determine if you do. Follow up with your urologist.

How accurate is a xray for detecting kidney stones because its been a month since I was diagnosed and still no stone can it be something else in there?

How accurate is a xray for detecting kidney stones because its been a month since I was diagnosed and still no stone can it be something else in there?

Kidney stones: For a very large kidney stone we may use an xray to trac it, however the small stone requires a ct to see them. Ct's give alot of raditation and nust be used with discretion, for your own health. Nothing is perfect, but searching for a small stone, and other ureteral or renal problems a ct may give you the best diagnostic options.

I have kidney stones. In a recent xray says: there aremultiple phleboliths in lower pelvis". Is this dangerous? The dr asked if had pain.

I have kidney stones. In a recent xray says: there aremultiple phleboliths in lower pelvis". Is this dangerous? The dr asked if had pain.

Stones vs phlebolith: Kidney stones are not phleboliths and phleboliths are not kidney stones; phleboliths are calcification of pelvic blood vessels. Stones in ureter or kidney are very different. Stones cause pain; phleboliths do not cause pain typically.

Adominal pain like contractions for a month had xray cat scan no answers not ibs, kidney stones, bladder, or appedendix. Any suggestions?

Adominal pain like contractions for a month had xray cat scan no answers not ibs, kidney stones, bladder, or appedendix. Any suggestions?

Work with one Doc.: It is important you see one physician when trying to find the cause of abdominal pain. When the cause of your pain is not apparent on a CTscan and/or x-rays, you may need further testing such as an ultra sound and blood tests to check for things like gall stones, ulcers and gluten sensitivity. If that does not provide the answer, you may need a referral to a GI specialist for possible endoscopy.
