What does it mean to have high dhea sulfate levels (elevated adrenal hormones)? What are the problems associated with this? What can it lead to?
By itself: A high (how high) dheas level may mean nothing at all. I don't know why the level would have been drawn in the first place. It can be significantly (not slightly) elevated in a variety of ovarian or adrenal problems, including pcos. It is also stimulated by certain medications. As a solitary finding without other clinical information, however, it has no value. Talk w/the doctor who ordered it, . ...Read more

Not that high: A dhea-s of 599 (correct -comes from the adrenals) is somewhat increased but will usually not cause problems. It would help to know the reason why it was done.
