Arrhythmia (Definition)

I was wondering what does it mean when your heart skips beats?

Sometimes I suddenly get palpitations! Like my heart skips a beat! 112 BPM when lay down. Should I tell my GP?

Yes.: An EKG and Holter monitor are non-invasive and can give good information. Lab may be needed for Ca, Mg and K levels if you are on other meds or have loose stools. Treatment at home that works well is Mg (magnesium). For skip beats etc. I use Mag Glycinate or Mag Maleate @ 200 mg 3x/d. [this can cause loose stools so you might only tolerate 400 mg. You can easily take 800 mg. This helps 90% of ...Read more

Needs eval soon: This could be something not serious like an adverse effect from your antihistamine. But it could also be something very serious. Heart beat irregularities occurring that often or multiple times in a row can be serious. You absolutely need to get into your doctor THIS WEEK to have it evaluated. You need a good exam of heart including rate, blood pressure and EKG, and then go form there. MAKE APPT!! ...Read more
