Get checked: Recurrent bell's palsy is not common so it is possible there is another reason for facial paralysis and now "blepharospasm". I am not sure if you had an MRI at any point to make sure there isn't something else going on inside your brain area but if not i would do so asap. I would see an ENT or a neurologist who can get to the bottom of what is going on. ...Read more

You : You most likely have myokymia. Very common and typically not serious, but annoying and distracting as you describe. Triggers that can bring it on include; caffeine, lack of sleep and stress. In other words, life! in all seriousness, it is usually nothing to worry about. Usually comes and goes on its own. Right eyelid twitching started last Aug. and persisted for more than a month. Later on dry-eye symptoms such as foreign body sensation, grittiness and ocular pain both eyes. The grittiness got worse when I woke up at night, why? It is so irritating.

Common problem: Eyelid twitching (myokymia) is a common and largely unexplained problem. It usually goes away on its own but sometimes this takes 3-4 weeks. Dry eyes are common in middle aged women and sometimes are aggravated by incomplete lid closure at night. Try a bedtime dose of a gel eye drop like Systane Gel. Most likely,: You describe classic eyelid myokymia, a common yet benign condition which may be associated with fatigue, poor sleep, eyestrain, metabolic or chemical imbalances, etc. The vein on your eyelid has nothing to do with this.
