There are three major types of blood cells—red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets. Patients with mds can have decreased production of one, two, or all three types of blood cells. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

Are there any tests to find out if blood is carrying oxygen to your body specifically your skin properly? I mean oxygenated blood and circulation.
Sores: Inadequate blood supply to skin results in sores where the tissue dies from inadequate blood supply. This can be seen in patients with severe raynaud's phenomenon (fingers or toes turn completely white for periods of time then red when blood rushes back in). If you have unexplained sores (not from an injury), then see a dermatologist. If affecting only fingers and/or toes, see a rheumatologist. ...Read more

Is it possible to have gastritis and low white blood count? I've always thought inflammation in the body means higher white cells counts...
Really not related: The two things may not be related. Also, the body reacts differently whether we have a viral illness (can have low white count) vs. A bacterial one (can have a higher count). Some inflammation in the body may not do anything to your white count. Please see your doctor if you are having any symptoms or worries. ...Read more
Does low platelets mean that your blood does not clot well enough or body not producing enough of something?
I have dark blood vessels and they are not usually like that. What could that mean to have them turn very dark all over my body?
If my antiphosplippid anti body test was clear does that mean I don't have any blood clotting disorder ? Or is it still possible to have one ?
Still at risk: It's one of several different tests, and picks up only 1 entity. Chances are you were screened for all the common ones (V Leiden, deficiency in S and/or C, antithrombin 3 deficiency, many of us are skeptical about homocysteine and a few of the others). What it really means is that we aren't going to give you treatment to make your blood less coagulable since this doesn't improve your odds. ...Read more

More information: Hi. Why did she have her thyroid removed? Usually that's for thyroid cancer. EVERYONE has antibodies in their blood! If she doesn't have thyroid autoantibodies, then she didn't have autoimmune thyroid disease. If it was thyroid cancer, then not having thyroglobulin antibodies means her thyroglobulin can be followed as a tumor marker. Your statement and question is a little unclear. Care 2 clarify? ...Read more
Is deep cleaning safe? It seems like it’s more likely to spread infection than cure it. I mean, all that scraping causes bleeding, so don’t the bacteria get in your blood? Could they spread to other parts of your body? My gums aren’t bleeding now, they’re
Possibly: If you are healthy, deep cleanings remove the hard deposits and inflamed tissue in the gum sulcus, keeping your gums bone and teeth healthy. Bacteria entering the bloodstream is possible but of little consequence unless you are immune compromised or have a prosthesis or other medical condition that may require prophylactic antibiotics. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
