What Does It Mean When Your Big Toe Goes Numb
Could be a few: Things, including you were possibly wearing a tight shoe, a nerve is compressed, likely either deep peroneal nerve or a nerve in your lower back.
What does it mean when you already have spinal problems, but there's more pain, and my big toe is numb?
Nerve root pain: Often a pinched nerve in the back will present with numbness or pain where the nerve goes and at time be completely unassociated with back pain. In the case of a numb great toe it is the L4 nerve root. A non spinal nerve numbness can come from the medial plantar nerve (like in a tarsal tunnel) or the superficial peroneal nerve tar.See 1 more doctor answer
I've been having sudden tingling numbness in my right big toe. What can this mean? I slightly sprained my right ankle recently but it has been doing better. I have some slight tingling on and off in my right calf too.
On left foot, toe next to big toe has been numb for a month. Muscle spasms with same toe since 2006. What does this mean? Any connection?
Numbness to this toe: Can be felt from a neuroma or sometimes entrapment of the deep peroneal nerve as it gets entrapped by the extensor digits rum brevis muscle belly. It would be prudent to determine if the numbness is located on both the medial and lateral sides of the toe or just one. If the digit spasms i'd also look at possibility of adding magnesium supplements to your diet and see if that helps.See 1 more doctor answer
My big toe goes numb sometimes in the past 2 weeks and my some fingers get really cold while others are really warm. What's going on?
See a doctor: The two problems could even be unrelated/coincidental. Numbness can be caused by a pinched nerve, nerve damage, and even poor circulation. See your doctor and also ask about raynaud's disease/phenomenon which is spasm of the blood vessels in the fingers and toes illicited by exposure to cold.See 1 more doctor answer
My left big toe goes numb and white daily. Occurs during prolonged sitting walking and exercising. So does my 3rd finger distal from knuckle on lh.
Raynoud's?: If it was just the toe, I would think microtrauma from shoes causing some nerve issues. But, given that it is happening on the hand, it could be more vascular/rheumatologic. It sounds similar to raynoud's. See if warmth helps as a starter and see your primary doctor or podiatrist.See 1 more doctor answer
When I wear high heels, the arch of my foot feels likes a pulled muscle. Sharp pain and my big toe goes numb. Any advice besides stop wearing heels?
How long??: How long havevyou had the symptoms and how high are the heels. Is the pain first in your big toe, and then in the arch? This may be a sign og big toe arthritis. Is the soreness in the arch independent of the hight of the heels you are wearing? Finally, how active are you in your heels. Walk a lot? Or no? This helps make the correct diagnosis and suggest treatment!See 1 more doctor answer
See your doctor: The usual cause for this to happen is because of a nerve problem, sometimes the lower back has an impingement, sometimes there is pressure on the nerve leading to the big toe. In either event, you need to see your podiatrist or other health professional for evaluation.See 1 more doctor answer
Nerve issue: Sometimes tight shoes can push on a nerve and cause neuropraxia....which is temporary injury of a nerve. It can make part or area go numb. It may take several months to resolve if you get rid of the pressure on the nerve. If it doesn't improve after a month, have it checked out by a Podiatrist.
My big toe is partially numb after my sesamoidectomy 3 weeks ago. Will the numbness go away? How long does this take?
Probably, months: Depending on what sesamoid was taken out, some nerves can get stretched or damaged. A stretched nerve will usually recover over a few months but improvement may continue for up to 18 months. A damaged nerve may recover, bit there may be some permanent numbness. Only time will tell and there is not much to do in the meantime.See 1 more doctor answer
