Throat infection: The group of symptoms listed can form a cascade. Tonsils can be swollen from infection, possibly viral or bacterial. Referred pain from the throat to the ears is common, so the ears hurt. When there is an infection in the throat, lymph nodes in the neck would swell, which may become sore, and cause the neck to feel stiff.
If your child has a sore throat and swollen tonsils, does that automatically mean he has strep throat?
I have been sick with a bad stuffy runny nose. Swollen tonsils with fever and every time I clear my throat I get a weird taste. What does that mean?
See doctor now: You should see a doctor right away. This may be just a viral infection but the severe neck pain, especially if it hurts to bend your neck or bend at the waist, may be a sign of meningitis. The risk of head and neck infections (like a tonsillar infection) is that it can spread up towards the brain.See 1 more doctor answer
Have swollen tonsils form past 6 months been to docs have got all blood work and culture done everything is negative and I have a lymph node in neck??
What are you asking?: I would not be further concerned, unless the tonsils are causing you to have sleep apnea. I'm going to assume the lymph node is not massively enlarged. Most of your friends have at least one similar node. Your tonsils and your big lymph node are your defense troops protecting you from bacterial invaders. Be thankful for good health and get on with your life.See 1 more doctor answer

Yes. ..but: As many as 5% of the population carry the germ in their throat year round and never get infected. This carrier state is one reason we see it all year. During heavy months the well/carriage rate can increase to 20%.Just because you have strep by test does not mean you have an illness. If you are ill with a sore throat & strep is +, it is considered an infection, tonsil swelling or not.See 1 more doctor answer

Pharyngitis: Sore throats are typically infectious causes. Most commonly it is due to a viral infection. common cold symptoms often accompany the sore throat. cough, runny nose, sneezing etc. Bacterial causes like strep usually lack cough, hoarseness, nasal running or congestion. Time is the best management. For symptoms relief, lozengers, salt water gargles, NSAIDS sparingly can help.
Sore Throat: Viral sore throats usualy clear up on thier own within a few days. If your symptoms are severe or last longer see your doctor for poosible cultures and antibiotics. If this is frequent you should consult an ENT doc to discuss further options.
Feel a lump at back of throat, very aggravating? Slightly swollen tonsils? Anything this could be?
Throat lump: Could be an infection. Good idea to get checked.
I am experiencing swollen tonsils. The following also describes me: Sore throat. What should I do?
Dr. Can check throat: New throat pain can be from a strep throat infection (antibiotics are needed), a cold or influenza (antibiotics usually not used), or from some other cause such as allergies or irritants. Usually, a person sees the doctor if the sore throat is bothersome, recurrent, or doesn't go away quickly (mainly to check for strep). A couple days of throat lozenges and Tylenol (acetaminophen) can lessen pain.
Sore Throat: For significant sore throat with swollen tonsils / lymph nodes – see physician & get a strep throat test/ culture. If you have Strep Throat, antibiotic therapy is imperative to prevent future complications. Consider Tylenol (acetaminophen) or nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications. Saltwater gargles: Mix 1 tsp salt in 8 oz warm water – gargle several times a day. Can gargle with Aloe Vera juice twice a day.
