I am trying to train for a 5k.Recently while running (just started)i get chest pains and palpitations (but I have p.O.T.S) my cardio gave me the ok train but I am so frustrated w/these symptoms, advice?

Not sure: You are too young to have any blockage in the arteries of heart causing chest pain. The only thing it could be is tachyarrhythmia which means your heart is abnormally running very fast. But since this doesn't happen at rest and only happens with exercise, it could be sinus tachycardia (normal phenomenon). Next time check your pulse how fast is it and whether regular or irregular. ...Read more

Went to ER today for chest pains after running, was a panic attack. Some liver counts where high though. AST=75 and ALT=82. Should I be worried?

You in condition?: If your doctor has cleared you for that type of physical exertion then, "NO" your LFT's being a bit elevated is of no consequence. Those numbers are always changing like blood pressure. They go up and down depending on a lot of things....I wouldn't worry about it. Have your panic attacks looked at though as those may be more debilitating than anything else for you right now. ...Read more

Continue eval: Who is ordering the tests? ER or pediatrician? In either case, call the pediatrician to give this update. S/he may want to see him today given the new symptoms, or may have advice based on the ongoing workup, additional symptoms/exam findings and suspected diagnoses. Asthma is a consideration not diagnosed by the tests you mentioned; but there are other possibilities as well. Be vigilant. ...Read more

What are signs of Dilantin toxicity? I have been having bad chest pains for a few days, been dizzy, shakey, weak, just started running a fever 2 hours ago, been throwing up. I have had this before but i don't remeber much about it.

I : I do not know if you have Dilantin toxicity. Dr. Lin provided symptoms of toxicity earlier. Lets see how that list of symptoms lines up with your symptoms. Nausea and vomiting — you indicated that you have been throwing up. Tremor (form of shaking) — you indicated that you are shakey. Lethargy (feeling tired) — you said you feel weak. Nystagmus — your eyes may seem to be moving back and forth —especially if you look from one side to another. Ataxia - difficulty walking. Dysarthria — difficulty speaking. Hypotensive — low blood pressure — this might make you feel dizzy. You described having bad chest pains, and feeling dizzy. I recommend that you be medically evaluated to determine the cause. The doctor will be able to draw a Dilantin blood level at that time. I hope you feel better soon. ...Read more
