Theres yellow rings around my eyes. I have so symptoms- what could this mean (fatty liver disease, etc.)?

Around the eyes could be a sign of swelling (allergy, kidney problems, medication side effects etc.). Diffuse scleral yellowing or skin yellowing could be several liver abnormalities, pancreatic disease, or blood disorder involving red cells or platelets. ...Read more

Are yellow eyes always a sign of some liver problems?

Are yellow eyes always a sign of some liver problems?

Yes if new: Some people have a slightly yellowish tint to the whites of their eyes but this is constant and life long. If you have newly acquired yellowing it is almost always due to liver dysfunction with the accumulation of bilirubin in the tissues including the whites of the eyes. Your gastroenterologist should be consulted as soon as possible. ...Read more

U/S shows enlarged liver & sludge, the last three days yellow line in eyes? Overly tired, slight pain in URQ and sometimes ULQ. Should I be concerned?

Needs investigation.: With yellowing in the eyes and an enlarged liver, we would think that this could be a liver issue, but we would really need blood testing both for (1) liver enzymes such as bilirubin, AST, ALT and (2) possible etiologies such as hepatitis and hemochromatosis. So we really need more information before we can link all this together. ...Read more

All my liver functions are normal but I have high bilirubin, after drinking my eyes turned yellow (again), should i be concerned?

All my liver functions are normal
but I have high bilirubin,
after drinking my eyes turned yellow (again),
should i be concerned?

Yes, but only until: Only until we pin down the problem. Case does not make sense at present. We would expect to see elevated liver functions along with elevated bili in alcohol induced damage, but some drugs are capable of doing this. Does not seem like you can have gilbert's syndrome- alcohol is not typically associated with these elevations either. I think you need an expert and probably some more data points. ...Read more

My eyes are yellow and red i went and had liver test done and everything was normal so what else could be the cause?

More tests needed: If your eyes are yellow--this must represent increased bilirubin, which may be from an hemolytic anemia. Many causes including virus or bacterial infection, immunologic causes or medication influence on red blood cells. A careful history and physical plus appropriate lab tests should be done--ii am not clear on the red eye problem. Please be more specific when you see your doctor. Good luck! ...Read more

Why would you have yellow coloring on the sides of your eyes the morning after drinking a bottle of wine in one night? Liver tests are normal.

May be unrelated: The description of yellow coloring on the sides of the eyes is commonly an entity called a pingueculum which is a raised, yellowish patch often on both eyes. These are often more prevalent with age and sun exposure as well as genetics. In general, don't rub the eyes & try using more artificial tears drops. If any symptoms occur or the shape worsens or changes, then best to see your eye doc. ...Read more
